just to provide a little look at the current polls. at the moment 360 is in the lead by 2, wii is in second with ps3 trailing behind. and pc may as well not even have been a category. keep voting, keep posting.
for actual content in this post consider this:
The wii and the playstation 3 are systems that make enormous promises. the wii is the most innovative system on the market, and the PS3 the most powerful. unfortunately both have made incredibly stupid decisions. the wii has decided to almost completely abandon the gamer market, choosing instead to exploit the casual gamer. the PS3 was just too damn expensive and had very few good games (comparatively, don't harass me for that statement), they lowered the price, but it may have been too little, too late.

^I agree with pretty much all this.

On the ''marketing '' side of things. PS2 did great profit for sony it also had great game.
Wii in the market side of things is already beating PS2 profit records, or is near it.
But true that overall, fanbased, PS2 does reign supreme. But thats the fact that the only competition was really nintendo and now that there's a 3rd competitor, its alot more complicated.

0_o The Xbox was more competition than the Gamecube. They weren't really that far apart, the GC sold about 22 million while the Xbox was around 25.

The Ps2 did the same thing the ps3 did when it came out. Too expensive too high production costs resulting in a massive lost.

The main reason the Ps3 failed to sell as much as Sony expected is that they were to overconfident.
They did the same mistake Nintendo did with the N64, the ruled the last gen-war so now they thought they could do whatever they wanted and the consumers would buy it no matter the cost or delay.

agreed it wasn't as expensive but when it first came out wasn't it 299.99$? that was pretty expensive for the time. Truthfully the only thing we can do is wait. The PS3 is gaining ground on the 360 theres no doubt or debating about that. The Wii has more then likely won this but sony says they don't view the Wii as competition. Thety like the fact there turning average joe ( If you will ) into gamer. They hope that afterwards average joe will want to play more Hardcore gamer games

The funny thing imo is that both Sony and MS were like "Buy a Ps3/360 and a Wii, it's the best choice!" when it was released, and now that it's selling like crazy they're all like "Don't buy it, it sucks  "
And even if the Ps3 is gaining ground on the 360, which it does, it's still lagging behind the two other when we're looking at world-sells.

and there are talks of versus 13 going to X360 at a later date as well.Care to link?
All I know is that Square have said they are definitely keeping Versus as a PS3 exclusive no matter what after the announcement of FF XIII going on the 360.
As for the topic of the matter I have to go with the PS3 as my personal choice. I also own the Wii and it's truly fun when your friends are over, other than that it gathers dust. My neighbor let's me use his 360 almost all the the time and he has a good selection of games, but I don't really like the 360 as much. Mind you he has suffer the RRoD twice. I think the fact that RRoD still being a problem make buyers unsure about buying a 360.
BTW, I didn't read the 10 pages of posts in the thread so yeah...

Versus FTW. 360 doesn't deserve Versus
