I've got to admit, you guys are doing an excellent job, and have been all along. It'd take some real brainstorms to pick out things to improve (which is obviously why you posted this thread) lol.

Wow. What a strange coincidence that I just started learning Maya this semester.
I sleep between 5-8 hours a day, and usually need my computer monitor to be on, or need to have music playing.
I would say keep them since they aren't really distracting. Not only that, but it gives you guys the credit you deserve.
