Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ (Phantom of Inferno VN)
When I saw the trailer, I knew that it has to be another work of Bee Train Productions. The art design gave it away, as it made me recall Blade of the Immortal. The story was adapted from the Phantom of Inferno, a Visual Novel created by Nitroplus that was released on year 2000 (Japan). It was also adapted into a three episode OVA on 2004, which I haven't exactly seen. (thus I wouldn't know what to say about it) It's under the direction of KÅichi Mashimo, who've worked on most of Bee Train's previous anime adaptations namely: .hack// series, Noir, Madlax, Tsubasa Chronicle, El Cazador de la Bruja, Blade of the Immortal, etc, etc. (tbh, I'm NOT a fan of these series) - But "this" in particular seems to have potential. It's set to start airing on the second day of the following month. (April 2)

Just one of the few series scheduled for Spring, that caught my attention. I need to gather more info on Rainbow - Nisha RokubÅ no Shichinin.

Plot Summary: A spate of mafia assasinations occurs in America, the work of the mysterious organization named Inferno. "Phantom" is their most strongest and capable assassin, however a lone tourist witnesses Phantom's latest act of murder. He unwittingly exposes the top assassin's true identity, a young girl named Ein. Witnesses are usually killed, but the man is captured and taken to be brainwashed into "Zwei", Inferno's newest assassin, with no memory of who he is. From this point on, Zwei is drawn into a world of conspiracy, deceit and violence. When I saw the trailer, I knew that it has to be another work of Bee Train Productions. To go a little off topic; It seems it's a trend to present Anime series as of late.
Though I've presented a majority of Shoujo since I love Shoujo. :D
I'll have to add this to my 'To watch list.'
Good work, Rixemht. :)

Just to add on that, I started creating anime threads since late December of last year, after awhile of hesitating and all. I just followed tsujoi and Gambler whom I've noticed, created most for some of the upcoming series back then. A couple of weeks later, Das (dasiek) followed suit. (we even had some sort of rivalry going on) :P - In the end, I'm just another person who prefers watching anime than reading manga. I Love Anime (not every single title) but as a whole! 8)
do you even had to call me Rixemht all the way out here?
(do you want me to destabilize the org once more?)
@Das
Do you remember those times when we would post in each others' threads... We're just about the only ones back then who kept on creating "old anime" threads that we've admired and wanted to recommend. I'm really glad to see that this section has gotten a bit "livelier" than usual. :)
...enough of that...
I certainly hope that this series delivers.
(Spring is just around the corner) :D

Ah - the good old days ... It's been almost 3 months hasn't it ?
But yeah -- the traffic in this section certainly picked up which makes me glad.
As for me - I'll probably continue promoting some older titles (if anyone minds me doing so - PM me). Still have a few noteworthy 'bats' in my closet and people seem to be better on finding hot info on current/upcoming titles so there's no point in 'competing'.
Sorry for the minor off-topic :P

Hmmm after watching the trailer it still seems like there's gonna be alot of filler in there :?
Im gonna keep my expectations low for this one and i might like it.

Whatta paradoxical title.
On topic, I'm looking forward to this series as a romance stint, not so much for the gun-action.

Ep 1 impressions :
... (checks file title again) ... No, it wasn't Noir. It sure did feel like it though. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing but I hope more effort will be put later on to distinguish the two shows.
Apart from that :
- Mediocre visuals. Not bad and easy to get used to but some recent shows were waaaaaaay better. Butt-ugly car CGs BTW.
- Nice music. Maybe a bit on the dramatic side but I liked it nonetheless. Solid OP (growing on me as I'm writing this) and a bleh ED. Seriously - they should award a special prize to people able to tell all them Ali Project songs apart.
- A bit rushed, throwing things at us without any buildup or suspense but still enjoyable. The characters need more life to them though.
All in all - gonna give it a shot for few more eps. It has some issues but none that can't be fixed and I'm fairly interested in the Eins x Zwei pairing.
Desire torrent if someone's interested. Small font and timing issues but perfectly watchable still.

I'm going to give this anime a shot. Looks interesting. 8) Who is going to have the best subs for this? It seems like several groups are going to sub this, including:
Jade
Chibi & Formula
Desire
All of Them
Which would you guys recommend?

I've seen the first episode. It seems I was expecting a bit too much, it was really disappointing: unoriginal plot, overused hero archetype, the animation wasn't really that impressive too. Well, as always I'll watch 2 or 3 more episodes to have a better idea of the whole.
At least I really liked the opening. Not everything is lost... :]

The animation and character designs were of typical BEETRAIN; for those who were acquainted with some of their previous works (Noir, Blade of the Immortal), it's a given fact. It sure ain't bad, in fact I really liked the cuts/angles, although something's definitely lacking which made it somewhat look bland. I can't determine the missing aspect though I'd say it lacks "sharpness" otherwise, as both OP & ED sequence had "that" as usual. I also enjoyed the music themes (combined with the sequences) - "Superb!" - not only did it blend well together with the series; so it was to my liking.
First episode, so far so good; I like the psychological theme, the underworld plot and the potential buildup of characters. (my kind of series) :D
I disagree, considering the series will only have 13 episodes to spare. Such an aspect has never bothered me, esp in regards to just the first episode of a series. A viewer mustn't only focus on the things that are visible and explainable, he must also be adept to grasping the concepts that aren't exactly shown and justified. A "reverse" buildup is also quite possible, if you know what I mean. And the characters are "lively" enough judging from the fact that they were "brainwashed"... that's if you're only referring to One and Two.
@Twarz
You shouldn't really expect too much for your own good. As an avid anime viewer, I've long considered myself immune to those kinds of aspects you've mentioned. I doubt that there's even a series that you could truly consider "original" nowadays. As far as I'm concerned, it's too early to judge a series upon seeing only an episode of it. With that said, I have my own "set of standards" and I tend to refrain from voicing out my displeasure this early in the series; nothing much of any relevant issues to rant about at the moment, aside from the car perhaps. (I could certainly agree with Das on that one)
If more viewers could only learn how to appreciate animes such as this a little bit more... it sure ain't easy to come up with one don't you think? (heck, if only it was that simple, I'd create an anime myself!)

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was, but it looks like the series just went retro and that the rest of season will be bringing the two up to speed.
Unfortunately, I'm already feeling the sense of boredom when watching the first episode. If this starts turning into El Cazador de la Bruja of epic boredom, I'm dropping it. I'm really hoping it isn't a repeat of it's past series where the audience is kept in the dark until the end.

just finished watching ep8, and i gotta say i think this is one great anime. i especially find zwei's struggles interesting...and also ein's acceptance to their life which is direct opposite of zwei, even though they walked the same path. the visuals are not that great, but well, i'll just tolerate that.
