I never liked Avatar, mainly because people think it's anime. Also, I don't like it because it is on Nickelodeon, (That's never good) and it's WAY too childish.

I don't know i think that avatar is good cause nickelodian is trying to imitate anime, so it makes one of the better north american cartoons.
Also did you guys hear that their making live action movies of avatar i think M. Night Shamalan is suppose to direct i think their gonna make a trilogy of it.

I've only seen a few episodes from the beginning of the show(had an apartment that came with free cable at one point). It seemed pretty decent as far as American cartoons marketed towards that 8-12 demographic go. I don't see anything wrong with them "imitating" anime, they're just trying to market towards the tastes of today's kids. Besides, the people behind the show very well may have grown up with shows like Speed Racer, Voltron, etc. and it only makes sense that they would be influenced by it and incorporate their tastes into what they make.

I watch it on the internet not nickelodeon i got a life rather than staying home and watch it on Fridays, thats how good it is to me. And Avatar is not a anime no matter how much they "imitate" it, because anime is Japanese animation therefore American cartoons are not anime but may resemble it because of it's theme etc. It is a pretty kiddy show but if the show was aimed at more mature kids it would probably be better.

I just decided to start watching it online the other day. It really is pretty decent considering it's target audience. I think it would probably reach a wider audience(more of the mainstream anime crowd) if they just cut out or changed some of the humor in it.

Oh I'm not saying the humor is bad, I enjoy it too, but it's just that the show would reach a wider audience if they changed it. The humor geared heavily towards little kids is the only thing that gives it such "little kid show" kind of fell and keeps it from being more popular with an older crowd. I don't think changing the comedic relief to something slightly less childish would really cause the show to lose any of its young fanbase, just open it to a wider audience.

I just finished the first season. Pretty good so far. Some of the fights in this show are pretty good. I especially liked the one at the abby towards the end of episode 15 (the episode where Zuko gets that bounty hunter chick to track down Aang using Katara's necklace).

Do we know if this show has a planned ending or is it going to follow suit of so many cartoons that just keep going until the plot falls apart and writers get lazy followed by the cancellation?
Oh yeah, I wanted to add that stage6 has them too, and in great quality. It's the only place I could find all of episode 21(book 2 chapter 1).
