Who are you looking at? You're looking at the person that is *quote-unquote* "Katara"
Also, for Dev, he doesn't look too bad. Just shave off the head and tie it into a ponytail, make the scar more visible and "scar-like" and he'd be a good Zuko.
Now the only real problem are the soldiers. "White" Fire Nation Soldiers won't do. Heck, even the eskimos are white.
I now predict the movie will be praised for its fight scenes and possibly the story, but it will ultimately fall down and fail when it's about the "almost all-white" casts

Thanks for the movie update, Uzumaki101. I'm actually kind of looking forward to the movie now, if only because it may revive some Avatar's popularity and maybe even lead to some new episodes or mini-movies.
Speaking of the show, I've been watching it recently on the Nicktoons channel, and I've fallen in love all over again. I really wish there were more episodes. I didn't realize it the first time I watched the series, but there's a lot of stuff that could be shown. Like Bumi growing up, learning to be king, and how he reacted to the Fire Nation taking control. In fact, I'd love to see how all the side characters lived before Aang showed back up. There are a lot of stories to tell there.

Guess they don't have a lot of asians in hollywood...
About his scar, that might just be a place holder for them to composite it onto his face later.

I always thought that a majority of the characters would be of Eskimo, or some kind of ethnic asian looks, ever since I saw the cartoon. Oh well. Hopefully the movie is not a downer.

the movie is directed by M. Night Shyamalan, i guess that in the end, Yang WAS the firelord and it was all a dream and he had died.
Also, i never really felt satisfied with how theAvatar ended, it felt kinda anti-climatic.

The good guys won and the bad guys lost, after some terrific fights. What was anti-climatic about it?
The only thing that disappointed me was the way Nickelodeon handled the third season. They treated it like shit, and as soon as it was over, they forgot about it.

Fire would be just Japanese period I believe as it reflects on Japan's Imperial days when they wanted to rule all of Asia. Also the pilot episode had them all dressed like samurais. Everything else though fits in well. But seriously, I will be pissed if the movie has only like 3 asians cuz that would be some major bullsh*t.

Who cares what race everyone is? The point is the story, not what country each nation represents. Besides, some stuff in the show doesn't completely mesh with the country ideas. In the swamp episode, the swamp-dwellers are pretty much rednecks, from the American South. If everyone in the movies was Asian, and the swamp-dwellers appeared in the movies, would they be the only white people? What sense would that make? Furthermore, this is an American movie. The majority of the characters being white isn't really a surprise.

I do agree that the Story is what counts the most, since the story is like the bread and the characters are the peanut and butter
But, seriously, telling a story with Asian Roots but white characters portraying them?
That's like retelling the American Revolution, only the British are Koreans and the Americans are Chinese
You have the bread, but you putted in Marmalade and Soy Sauce instead.

Reminds me of when Memoirs of a Geisha came out, and people were upset that a Chinese actress played a Japanese woman. While it does seem a little wrong, it's not that big a deal.

Avatar is actually a decent anime. It's just too bad that it's becoming a movie. It's going to be like dragonball Evolution.

The Avatar movies won't be as bad as DB Evolution. For one thing, the story could actually be done in a movie. The same couldn't be said about DB. Also, I believe there are plans for it to be a trilogy, so they shouldn't be cramming too much into each movie (though I'm sure a lot of stuff will still be left out).
