Also, what do you mean by "The administrator's account was broken into because they were using the same password for FAKKU that they were using elsewhere."As in, you use your personal e-mail's password for Fakku or something? Wasn't that exactly how the shit hit the fan that one time you let developer/programmer get access to your site?
It wasn't my account that was broken into, but yeah it's the same idea.
Eh, I hope you and whoever is in charge of this website learn your lesson this time, and don't repeat the same mistake then.
I don't really want to rub salt into your wounds, but this isn't a hobby anymore like it was when you first started the site as a teenager. I'm clueless when it comes to computers and shit, but what if this guy accessed our information (our passwords) instead of just vandalizing a few manga tags and making a rant on the front page? What if he was really malicious and did something worse?
You have our personal information now, and you have a responsibility to make sure it's safe.
You're absolutely right, and even moreso with the store launching.
Oh yeah, forgot about that...
BTW, didn't get a reply to the e-mail I sent you, but what exactly is the source of your goods? Did you literally go to Japan yourself and buy as much stuff as possible? Are you ordering them online?
Little bit of column A, little but of column B (plus some pretty cool stuff on the side). I'll reply to that email as soon as I get the chance, there were a bunch of different things I wanted to cover so it's taking some time.
Also your old avatar inspired me to check out Breaking Bad, great show.
Eh, story became a bit too larger than life with the 4th season. Hopefully it'll be more down to earth and toned down for the final seasons.
Anyway, I think you should seriously consider my idea of making the doujins and eroges a season deal. Your source of inventory is just too unreliable. Also, it's very pointless to buy doujins from you when you ordered them online yourself... That's just a pointless middleman.
If I were you, I would have gone to C81 and bought stuff there. I mean, there's much more demand for that, and the hype/buzz of Comiket would have temporarily increased demand.

BTW, how much truth is in this Jacob? I'm giving you the benefit of doubt for you at the moment:
"After Hibia lazily logged into SSH and dealt with the aftershock of how easy it was, he downloaded the Sanshee database which contained hundreds of rows of sensitive user information (Full names, E-mails, Unsalted MD5 encrytped passwords, Home Addresses, Phone Numbers) - If we wanted to blackmail you, here would have been a good place to start, did we share any of this? No. Did we ever threaten you? No. Did we share ANY senstive data? No. Did we tell you what happened? Yes. Did you follow up by telling everyone their information was compromised? No. Users and Staff were unaware of their sensitive data being known - so much so that many of you are using the same passwords you used on Sanshee around various facets of the internet--for that matter, if you don't trust either of us as decent people you should change your passwords if any of them were used to register to Sanshee. Years later and you've finally been warned, and not by the person who should have warned you. Not warning your users that their data was stolen is outright irresponsible. "

Was freaked about the password reset, but glad to see that everything's okay

I'm glad everything turned out okay. The rising frequency of profile hackings around the Internet is starting to get really scary nowadays.

I don't believe that it is justified in causing havoc to prove a point. I hope such an action will not be repeated...Please keep up the good work with Fakku! I really love this site and would hate for anything to happen to it.
QFT. We all can make mistakes, and that's what makes us human. But starting a riot won't help anyone. So don't worry Jacob, stand strong and lead Fakku as the amazing community that it is!
You know we all got your back. :)

These douchebags should've brought their points across in a different way.
Where is the original post by them btw? I'd like to see it.

These douchebags should've brought their points across in a different way.If some of you are thinking that this was too much to make a point, then I'm not sure you really understand the gravity of what took place, and the goodwill these hackers showed once they showed they could do what they did as easily as they did. Imagine you break into a bank, take hostages, and break into the vault, and then don't steal anything. You did it not steal the money, but to show that bank just how easy it was to do what you did.
It's the exact same situation here, someone got their shit rightfully slapped to the ground, but then were extended a hand to get back up. They could have just as easily fucked over the entire website, gotten into a lot of peoples personal information, and then go on from there.
But they didn't. These people aren't douche bags or assholes, they're people of character. I can tell people to do something they don't want to do all I want, but they sure as shit aren't going to do anything until I show them the consequences of non-compliance. Asking will only get you so far, and some people need to get a swift kick in the ass before they switch their gears into action.

...As much as I don't like this statement, this holds a point or two. People won't take action for safety unless they experience it first hand.
Those may have done some reversible damage, but they also proved that Fakku could be overrun by hackers... With that in mind, Jacob and the crew can now work harder for a more secure (And still awesome) site.

Not everyone will see it such a light, and for good reason. You have to understand that when people see "hacking" with a reason, they find that someone is just making an excuse to do as they like while ruining a good thing. And while this isn't always true, we see it happening more often then not.
Honestly, while I try to keep a neutral stance on things, which is difficult sometimes, it's especially so when you don't have both sides of the story. However, while I understand that while trying to prove a point, to show that there's something wrong after trying to explain it, they did what they did, what they did, is technically, wrong. While, yes, they may have gotten they're point across, they did so in a manner that was considered harmful. While true, they could've done far, FAR worse, this is still considered a classic example of "Two wrongs, do not make a right."

ya ya I see the light of both sides and agree with the bullshit. Just as anyone would see that the reasons are reasonable just was not dealt with in a *reasonable* way. *sigh*

I appreciate the points, Oneshott, as I had not thought of them. You have enlightened me so. But I agree with Alex~kun's statements.
