Oh shite, we've got the bug here as well!
Nuu! and when I was hoping we'd be one of the few sanctuaries. . .
And yeah, there be a lot of Touhou x Magpul art out there, Sakuya is pretty damn good as Chris Costa, there's one with her and him operating together.

Well not like we're high traffic thread anyway, this only serves as minor inconvenience.
I wonder how Kei is doing with his garden, haven't visited him in ages.

Maybe time to do something about it. :D

Yeah but been so busy lately and still am. There's gonna be a kid coming over next week for work experience and they're throwing him onto me to be responsible for him.

Shouldn't be too hard, all I have to do is show him how to do stuff and tell him not to emulate how I interact with my idiot of a boss.

Well wait till you ever have to train a group of 10 at the same time. Just FYI since you were curious, I'm getting sent over to WA end of this term for 'specialized' training.
0
Ah seriously Kei?
What kind of training exactly?
@Azelle, WA is Western Australia. Basically the other side of the country from where we are.

What Val said.
Training deep field survival with guys at Campbell Barracks. Me and several NCOs from all over got picked for this. 'Course the best fucking place to do it is the state full of stinking desert.

Well asside of "stinking desert" sounds like fun.
Suddenly I have quite a lot of "carry" 9mm and no range 9mm... ... ... Also tomorrow I'll get my papers for my CZ 858 but because I will be leaving for a while it will be August when I get to the range to try it... -.-

Kei, do you possibly mean that you will actually be involved in training with folks from SASR who're the garrison of Campbell Barracks? Fucking A, mate. If I was in your position, I wouldn't care that I'm being stuck in stinking desert.
On the bright side, you're nearly through with a painful bureaucratic process. Come August, you'll be grinning your whole first trip to the range with your raifu.

True and I don't mind to spend 55 Australian bucks for ammo, because that's a crate of 250 rounds... :D

250 rounds can get you a lot of places, my friend. I certainly wouldn't spend 55 AUD for it if I could but yeah.
Also interesting doc about the Falklands Conflict. It and the Avro Vulcans are such overlooked items of interest

So it seems we'll be seeing PenCott camo in the new Halo: Nightfall movie. Somebody posted a screen of the trailer with the main cast wearing BDUs in PenCott Badlands camouflage pattern.
Personally, looking at their kit, the only real thing that looks sci-fi is the trademark assault rifle. Without that, they almost would look like soldiers in a post apocalyptic scenario, carrying only bits and pieces of their ruined gear. No matter, I don't really expect much when a movie is made from a game franchise though I do think they're getting better.
In other news, saw recently about a WWII veteran, Ted Gundy, who was honored with a US Army Marksmanship Unit Black Hat which is considered very prestigious considering only 8 other people outside of USAMU have ever been awarded one.
Ted Gundy was a US Army sniper who saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne during WWII and in the video he's given a replica M1903A4 Springfield rifle to shoot 300 yards out. Later he shoots with a modern USAMU custom Remington 700 at 1000 yards out. From the video, you can see this old war veteran hasn't lost his skill.
I can imagine quite well how much nostalgia he felt holding that 'A4 after all those years and I'm quite glad there are companies nowadays that make historical replicas of these firearms. We need to get some more WWII replicas out there like FG-42, United Defense M43 or the Polish Blyskawica.
