I also read mangas if I want a story (and books if I want a GOOD story :p), so its artwork, then language (english only..) and censorship.
Favourites are:
1. Yamatogawa
2. Kisaragi Gunma (surprise!)

i want to know the story, so it must be english.
artwork is important too but if u just want to see pic/art, search picture why doujins!!! its small size, color and most of them nice. Compare to doujins that black and white, big size with only few that good.
so with language we know story and with that we can say is this doujins good or bad.

I prefer to have an interesting story. Next to that is the artwork. For me these two work in tandem. Of course you wouldn't like a boring story neither bad artwork.

I'm gonna go for artwork on this one. GUST doujins' stories are shit, but the art is pretty good (though it's plain and simple "Love It or Hate It", and the H-community is pretty split on that one...) ; and on the same side, some doujins with a lot of potential stories but the art is god awful (there was a recent one I read about a girl who had a crush on her childhood friend but was afraid of confessing because of her nipples).

Absolutely art, then comes the story...
It doesen't happen so often that a doujin has a great story, but i still could like it for his artwork, hardly ever happens the opposite.
My favourite artists are Kisaragi Gunma, Black Dog ( the way he draws blowjobs is incredible °_° ) and akari Tsutsumi ;D

I feel art is the most importent thing. With colour pages being close behind since I love full coloured stuff.

Artwork.
You can fap to both BW or coloured manga, you can fap to it even if you don't understand the language. I really like a story that's good (or plausible at least) but, in hentai, it's nearly asking too much.
Censorship is a pain, and it really destroy hentai if excessive. However, a hentai can be at a language you fully understand and with an amazing story. How could you fap if the artwork is ugly as hell? You may enjoy it because of the story, but then it doesn't need to be hentai.
I mean, like I said, I like a good story very very very much, and I would be glad if the censorship law was abolished. But artwork is my top of tops.

Our membership numbers may have increased significantly, but my stand on artwork as being most important remains unchanged. :D
However, I believe artwork should go hand-in-hand with storyline too. Imagine a hentai manga or doujin with the most excellent of artwork, only to be ruined by a fetish which does not appeal to the reader, perhaps in the form of guro or scat.

Between Art & Story... I'll go for Artwork.
Just because bad artwork can ruin brilliant story... and It doesn't work vice verca :-P This goes for all manga, not just hentai.

If a picture could really worth a thousand words, then good artwork is the kind that tells the story even if the language is foreign to the reader...
