Which do you prefer?

95% of the time i'll watch subbed since shows typically sound better in their native language for example, lucky star. it's not TERRIBAD in english, but it really can't compare to the experience of watching it with subs. Sometimes the anime sounds really good dubbed such as in yuyu hakusho. Otherwise, I'll usually watch subbed since shows often sound gross when 4kids rapes shows *cough* one piece *huff, cough* BELIEVE IT *barf*.

i mean, imagine if 4kids got a hold of a show and made it more child-friendly? no one wants that...but it makes for a laugh :D

I like both dub and sub.

there in no need for dubbed animes, it only sounds freak or cartoonish once it was dubbed... One should learn Japanese or be a fast reader to enjoy animes. ^_^V

Seriously, can you stand that screaming in the Raw/Sub version of DBZ? It gets REALLY annoying. Glad I watched it with Dub :D

Woohoo, subs it is for me. Over the years, I've grown familiar to the voices of many well-loved seiyuus such as Rei Tanaka, Masakazu Morita, Nana Mizuki, Rei Kugimiya and Ryotaro Okiyayu (love this veteran a lot, but not sure how to spell his name though :p) among many others.

I've seen so much anime over 17 years since I started, and only Golden Boy passed my standards for dubbed. The main problem with dubs is that they are unable to catch the subtle nuances of Japanese humor. Tsukkomi for one, puns for another, proverbs, sayings, the list goes on.

Subs for me!! I prefer hearing the original voices and I'm so used to reading subs. I don't mind the odd dub here and there, but I find it awkward, especially when the voices don't match the character. I also never re-watch a dub after seeing the subbed version....it's just too weird/strange.

I can't really say, sometimes the English dubbed is voiced well. And at time I prefer the subtitles.

It really does not matter to me as long as the story is great and the animation is well done.

Well, It's because dubbed really don't bring some good stuff you want to hear...

I say dub, yes subs were really bad back in the day, but with Funimation doing excellent dubs to several anime (like Sgt. Frog) it's hard to keep that viewpoint. Though I do enjoy watching and listening more than I do reading the anime I'm watching.

Though I agree it's a mixed bag, Tower of Druaga for instance I didn't really like the dubbing of both Japanese AND English. Soul Eater was something I watched in japanese and therefore cannot stand listening to the dub of that show (Frankenstien is all wrong!).

TV edits I don't mind since that is what they do to get on Television, edits on the DVD however, is blasphemy.

Baccano, Cowboy Beebop, and Trigun are awesome dub shows. I probably mention them because it happens to be a popular anime that has really good dubbing, I doubt if an obscure anime had really great dubbing that anyone would care about it.

The only time I ever watched a dub was when I was very young and was watching "Gundam Wing." I have yet to find another dub that actually seems "normal."
