I loved the Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing Ultimate, and Yu yu Hakasho dubs that I still love. But other than that it's pretty much subs for me. Also Gantz was rather good. Got a lot of lessly known people to do the main characters and allowed them to curse. lolz

Subs definitely.
Be it anything, even a show already in english, I like to watch it with english subtitles. I like it that way mostly because in my home country TV-shows aren't dubbed if it's foreing show, there's always subtitles. Plus, I'm slightly better at reading english than listening it. Especially complicated words are easier to understand in text format rather than voice. Also, I like to hear the voices as they are meant to be.

Subbed definitely, for 3 reasons:
1. Dubbed anime always irritated me somehow, since it don't have the "Originality" feeling to it.
2. The voices in dubbed anime usually (mostly) didn't have any "emotion" in their words.
3. I seldom finding that most dubbed anime has the names (characters, skills, etc) changed. Like how they change God Gundam into Burning Gundam... (it doesn't make sense).

Back when I started watching anime in high school, I used to watch dubs exclusively. This was due to the fact that I thought reading subs was a hassle, and as far as I was concerned the voice acting in the dubs was just fine. (I really didn't have anything to compare it to, of course!)
Then it happened.
I started watching Great Teacher Onizuka. The English voice cast must have been made up of approximately three people, and the voices were completely lifeless. Even though, Steve Blum (of Cowboy Bebop fame)starred as the lead, I just couldn't take any more shit from the supporting cast. I switched to the sub immediately. It was a rejuvenating experience. In that moment, I realized how much better the Japanese voice casts are. I also realized how stupid it was for Japanese people to talk with ridiculous American accents.
I haven't been able to go back to dubs ever since that experience.

Subbed for sure, until now the dub versions were ugly sounding, it`s like they`re not into their character.

Dubbing anime is an horrible sin and it should be against the law.
although i've seen some decent ones like Dragon ball Z and Ninja scroll but i only saw them because i couldn't find any subbed versions.
It's annoying that VLC sometimes auto chooses the eng dub and that i gotta change it everytime.
Nay i like subs more and the japanese language even more.

Dubbed.
While I totally agree that the original japanese voices with subtitles are often superior to english voice-overs (save for a few exceptions: Black Lagoon, Baccano, and others) I like to enjoy the artwork of anime as much as the story. So, I'd much rather listen to characters speak while letting my eyes wander around the screen, rather than be forced to stare at the bottom of the screen for an entire 20 minutes.

I choose subbed almost every time. There are very very rare occassions where I'll say dubbed is as good as or better than the original Japanese VAs, but not often.
Generally dubbed animes suck a lot when compared to subbed. Most English VAs suck =.=

Wow, everyone here is so biased against dubs.
Do a majority of you speak the language? How the hell can you spectate on it?
Most of arguments presented are baseless. I'm just hearing "HURP DURP! NOTHING IS BETTER THAN SUPERIOR NIPPON'S SEIYU!" Just because it's sounds cool in Japanese, that it must be good acting, right?
And the whole "HURRRR THE TRANSLATION GET'S LOST IN THE DUB AND LOSES IT'S MEANING!" Well I've got news for you! Those subs aren't an exact translation of what's being said.
This leads me to the next point. The dubs are being translated by industry professionals who are both fluent in a language most of you don't know and are also professional writers. Yes, they have to make sure the dialogue coincides with the mouthflaps, but they make sure that the meaning and intent of the original Japanese is not lost.
Are there bad dubs? Yes. Are there bad Japanese dubs? Of course.
Are there good dubs? Yes quite a few, but they are quickly disregarded because the viewer goes in watching with the mentality that since it's dubbed, it's going to suck.
INB4 flames.

I'm gonna have to go with subbing on this one, out of all the animes I've watched (probably around 75 by now) theres only been 2 in which I've seen the dubbed version and have thought that the dubbed version is better (Original FMA and Cowboy Bebop) but with other dubbed animes it sounds like crap.

SUB is the best!whahah=D Because most of the dubbed anime is lame. The dubbers' voice do not match the character the best example of those dubbers are from 4kids /gg=D

I'll agree that there are some great dubs out there. Cowboy Bebop, Baccano, FLCL, etc. But my heart and the market still goes out to subs. Most shows are better that way. Haruhi, Azumanga Daoih, Soul Eater, etc. And besides. Not all shows get dubbed. If we root for the dub then we would never get K-On!...what kind of world is that?

Subbed hands down, most anime's that get dubbed the voice actor's have no passion or feeling in what they are doing so it almost always sounds bland or boring.

(I voted dub so you guys won't be all freaking high and mighty with subs.)I don't see why everyone INSTANTLY bashes dubs, but this isn't the time or the right topic. I'm for both, really - I'll watch a sub and then watch the dub to see what they did for the voices. I'd say that I like quite a few but I don't want to be run out of here with torches and pitchforks.

Black Lagoon is a good anime with english dubWell, this is the time and place. I hate you both...... English is a stupid language, and Black Lagoon was ALMOST ruined for me when I heard it dubbed. The reason I wasn't an otaku up till 2 years ago is because i didnt even know about subs....
