Subbed anime is a lot better. The translation gets lost in dubs and just sounds weird. When English tries to make those cute voices that the Japanese make, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Voice actors are just terribly chosen at time for dubs too...
There is the occasional awesome dub like Cowboy Bebop. Most are just really bad though.

I vote for subbed,I saw Vampire Hunter D dubbed because it was praised on the net. When watching anime I like to hear and feel the original voices. Japanese voices are better than dubbing, dubbing is so hollow and witchout effect like in most of hentai I encounter. Actors usually dont know how to play it properly or they are just faint, although I've seen a hentai or two with acceptable dubbing. So Im gonna stick to my opinion that I prefer subs...

the dub is getting better now but sub is still the best. like how it sounded not too bad on the international trailer of ff13

i prefer subbed cause you can appreciate seiyu's work, and i think that seiyu's work is very importan for an anime

subbed but only because the dubbing sucks. if they chose good voice actors then i would watch dubbed, only because im too lazy to read the subbed though.

im for the few dubbed, cause reading while all the action happens gets me off track of what's happening. but i agree with everyone that only a few dubbed anime are good. t.t

Sub but usually only fansubs because they are always so much better then official subs. I'll watch a dub if it's really good (Gits: SAC, FMA, etc.)

I'll go wiht Subbed but some Dubbed are ok like Eureka Seven but not Naruto... they sound so retard.

As i read from the previews members not only i can't stand the dub voices but neither understand them some times..Subs for the win cause it is better to have the real thing i mean japanesse voices etc and another thing i learned some japanesse from subbed japanesse anime :)

I'm almost totally neutral, but between 4 titles, I prefer the dub two more times.
Considerably better dub:
Cowboy Bebop (There's an echo in here.)
Gungrave
Howl's Moving Castle (I rub easygoing Bale.)
For the sub:
Welcome to the NHK (I think Chris Patton is enormously talented, and he does about as well as his counterpart, but no one else comes close to their original.)

Naturally, subbed anime. I think that when you translate to another language something, even though it's easier to understand, something winds up lost in the process.
Even though they aren't perfect, I think having the original language with subtitles gives you a better experience of what the creators were trying to get across.
But Trigun was pretty good dubbed and Cowboy Bebop as well.

I don't watch dubs, but I usually don't employ subs either anymore, so yeah... I prefer the original language in almost all cases. The exception confirming the rule is the MGS series.
I know it's not anime, but really, in my opinion the English voices are the true ones and Japanese is just localisation.
About Dragon ball, I really can't listen to the English dub anymore. Back when I didn't know any Japanese I thought Goku's Japanese voice was weird, too, but now that I'm watching Dragon Ball Kai I have seen the light. That voice is *perfect* for Goku.

I live in Germany. There, the dubs are even worse than the english ones. Subs are brilliant. And Japanese is such a wonderful language. And often the japanese seiyuus put a lot more emotion into their performance.
But at least some english dubs are awesome: My best example: Fukuyama in Girls Bravo. He is even a lot more hilarious than in Japanese, especially his laughing. =)
