Atheism

My grandad and uncle are both christian vicars.
My dad was raised with the church and passed his morals onto me. I honestly think I got the best part of it since I was just told how to be a decent person without the religious stories.
I would like to beleive in a bearded man in the sky, but I simply can't.
I know there's a decent amount of hardcore christians in america, but here there isn't really open societies that basically say "You'll go to hell if you don't worship god", Even though that's a contradiction in itself.

Merged with previous topic. Please utilize the search function next time. That's a relief. When I saw the new amount of pages I thought that Kalistean had hijacked another religion thread and that caused it to explode in post count.

I believe there is a god, but I don´t go praying or something like that. I also don´t believe that god created everything. I believe in science.

I dunno, my idea is that God did create everything, it's just through science, that we are better able to understand how He did it.
Dunno, to each there own.

This might seem conceited but the reason I'm an atheist is simply because the concept of a god is ... boring.

It's hard to understand the "God" concept, but perhaps an almighty being just got the ball rolling and science took care of the rest?

I'm partially christian, the bible may be full of shit, but there are messages in religion that can guide you to becoming a better person.

Am I allowed to call people out?
I believe in humans, in their individual ability to better themselves through effort and hard work and to work together for the good.

Believe what you want to believe my friend. Anything I say now will not change your mind at this point. I believe there is a god and that is that.

i looked it up and there was nothing promoting slavery there were just guidelines, which was a lot more than most religions back in the day. The bible also states that our faith should be that of a child blindly following his word, meaning it doesnt matter if you dont understand why gays go to hell. Also please get your shit straight before arguing a point theres nothing i hate more than people who speak for or against god who dont have a fucking clue what theyre saying.(christian)

I believe in Heaven not Hell. So probably I'm not an atheist since I believe that there is a Heaven, waiting for us once we pass away.

I am agnostic...and a lot of people see it as an easy way out or a way to avoid the whole religious debate..and in a way I do appreciate agnosticism because it's a bit more passive, but I in no way am looking for a way out. I have had time to explore a few different religions, growing up in a Jewish house hold, and I appreciate my upbringing but I could not find true belief in all of it. Same with Christianity. I could try a few other religions, but I feel like I shouldn't have to try..it should just come naturally. So until I find a true strict belief I think is fitting I can just say that I have faith in general, and to me that is important. Just to have faith...in anything at all!

Tried reading several religious texts and none of them appealed to me. Maybe it's a lack of trust, but I can't take anything on faith alone. So I'm firmly in the atheist camp.

i tried so hard to believe in God, but couldn't. I have been atheist for ~2 years so far.
but one thing I realized that I thought about afterlife, which shouldn't exist. then the fact that my consciousness will disappear the moment I died scared the shit out of my mind.
so Do I just stop existing? wow... that's just load of bs.

Not following a religion or a god are 2 different things
So using the term Atheism is redundant
I don't follow any religion but that does not make me an Atheist per say since I believe in a higher being of sorts a god if you will.
