The dangers of cannabis is having a bad trip and going into a psychosis or a panic attack, it's a small risk, but you know just as well as I do that it exists and that blazing weed enhances the danger way more than just drinking. And do not forget the fact that if you smoke "too much" THC can stock up in your fat-cells, mostly around the brain.
F10.5 alcohol:[1][2][3] Alcohol is a common risk of causing psychotic disorders or episodes, which may occur through acute intoxication, chronic alcoholism, withdrawal, exacerbation of existing disorders, or acute idiosyncratic reactions.[4] Research has shown that alcohol abuse causes an 8-fold increased risk of psychotic disorders in men and a 3 fold increased risk of psychotic disorders in women.[5][6] While the vast majority of cases are acute and resolve fairly quickly upon treatment and/or abstinence, they can occasionally become chronic and persistent.[4] Alcoholic psychosis is sometimes misdiagnosed as another mental illness such as schizophrenia.[7]
F12.5 cannabinoid: Some studies indicate that cannabis, especially certain strains containing large proportions of THC and low proportions of CBD,[8][9] may lower the threshold for psychosis, and thus help to trigger full-blown psychosis in some people.[10] Early studies have been criticized for failing to consider other drugs (such as LSD) that the participants may have used before or during the study, as well as other factors such as pre-existing ("comorbid") mental illness. However, more recent studies with better controls have still found an increase in risk for psychosis in cannabis users, albeit a more modest one.[11] It is still not clear whether this is a causal link, and it is possible that cannabis use only increases the chance of psychosis in people already predisposed to it; or that people with developing psychosis use cannabis to provide temporary relief of their mental discomfort. Cannabis use has increased dramatically over past few decades but declined in the last decade, whereas the rate of psychosis has not increased. This suggests that a direct causal link is unlikely for all users.[12]
^ thats enough information about psychosis, if you're afraid of getting psychosis from weed, then you should totally stay away from alcohol.
And panic attacks. You can get a panic attack if you smoke too much weed and let your brain think all the nasty things it may start thinking. I've smoked too much only once and had a panic attack. All it does is:
-make you dizzy (so sit down)
- at least for me it makes my brain think of all the possible negative things (just start thinking of stuff you like, happy things)
-makes you feel as if you cant breath (even tho at the same time you have no problems breathing) and because of that you start breathing faster and faster. Unless you start breathing slower, your hands and legs will start to go a little bit numb, you'll get dizzier and everything starts to spin around you. Thats because you get an overdose of oxygen. So just start breathing sloooooooowly or if you cant, use a paperbag.
How I know that? Panic disorder fuck yeah! And guess what? Weed actually helps me with it. If I start feeling like I'm gonna have a panic attack soon, I smoke, get relaxed and its gone before it even hit me properly :)
And one thing about panic attacks, if you think you're getting one, getting scared of it and thinking about it only makes it worse
And what if the thc stays in your fatcells? Because it just IS there, it doesnt mean that you're high the whole time till its all gone from your fatcells. The only downside is that it can be detected in a drug test long after you've smoked. And that can fuck up your life. But the funny thing about drug tests is that most of the illegal drugs dont stay in your system very long. Cannabis, almost the least harmful drug stays in you for the longest time. So doing harder drugs is safer than smoking weed, IF you only think about the drug tests and the risk of getting caught. And that is wrong in so many levels.

But hash is infact slightly addicting, how much is depended on the kind of hash you're smoking, since it's not the cannabis in it that addicts you. It has something to do with a substance in the indica(the kind of plant most commonly used to refine for hash). I'm not entirely sure about how that shit works, but it is apparently slightly addicting.
Since I'm too lazy to write it myself, wikipedia to the rescue!
"Hashish is a cannabis preparation composed of compressed stalked resin glands, called trichomes, collected from the unfertilized buds of the cannabis plant. It contains the same active ingredients but in higher concentrations than unsifted buds or leaves. Hashish is often a paste-like substance with varying hardness and pliability, its color most commonly light to dark brown but varying toward green, yellow, black or red."
So, I wonder how hash is physically addicting, but weed isnt, since they are the same thing. Hash is just the most potent part of the plant. And no, it has nothing to do with indica. usually there's 2 kinds of weed:
sativa that gives you more of a head high. usually if people get panic attacks because of weed its sativa because if you're used to smoking indica. It makes your mind race, gives you a bright feeling, doesnt make you into a couchpotato like indica does and may cause some mild hallucinations. Also people who get paranoid are most likely smoking sativa. Its usually better for smoking outdoors because it doesnt make you tired. Makes you more creative. Good for cleaning too D;
indica gives you a body high. Makes your whole body sooooo heavy and makes you feel as if you're sinking in your sofa. Its usually better for watching movies and just hanging around or just before bed time, because it really helps you fall asleep. And in most cases Indica is better in medical use.
And then there's hybrids. Breeds that have both sativa and indica traits some may be 30% sativa 70% indica or 50%/50%. And just about any variation. And what it does to you? It really depends on if its indica or sativa dominant.
So, indica isnt more addicting than other weed and neither is hash. Its the same stuff just in a different form. Hash (good hash) is just more potent, but you just dont smoke more potent stuff that much. And thats what people dont seem to get. If you have a bowl full of good quality weed (or hash) and a bowl full of crappy weed. You dont smoke the same amount of them. Just like with alcohol, you have a sixpack of beer, you drink it. But would you drink the same amount of some 50% liquor? My guess is no, you wouldnt (I on the other hand wouldnt touch any kind of alcohol)

Cannabis is addictive physically (you're brain) you won't die from withdrawls as you will with opiates. but it is MUCH stronger withdrawal than nicotine.
How come? I'd love to see some proof. Cannabis isnt physically addictive. Just mentally, and thats because you enjoy the high, it feels good and ofcourse you want more of something that feels good. Just like candy tastes good, so you want more. Sugar can be addictive too, mentally. ANYTHING CAN BE ADDICTIVE.
I've sometimes smoked every day for almost the whole day (24/7) for about 2 months straight. When I ran out of weed, what did I do? I just didnt smoke. Had a "hangover" for a day and that means, I was a little bit in a bad mood, a slight headache and nothing more. Yeah, sometimes I get these cravings "oh I sooooo want to smoke a bowl now, I'd pay anything for it" but I get those same cravings for about anything. Good food (especially good and unheathy food), sex and many other things. Still, I'm not a sex addict, I'm not a junkfood addict or sugar addict. I just like those things, and usually people want what they like.
And about nicotine, see
what wikipedia has to say
1. heroin
2. cocaine
3. alcohol
4. tobacco
...
8. Cannabis

I also do not smoke, and I don't have a problem with people who do. If they were to legalize marijuana i wouldn't be against it... I would rather have people smoke and drive than drink and drive. From what I've seen, people who smoke are more paranoid. Which i think would lead to better driving. (If they chose to drive while high, which I'm highly against.)
Have you ever wondered why people get paranoid when they are high? Its because its illegal. Even if they dont think they are doing anything wrong, they know its illegal and it can get them in trouble. Thats a reason enough for many people to get paranoid, eh? :) But if it was legal people wouldnt have to be so afraid of police and the laws anymore. Ofcourse it would take a long time for weed to be totally paranoia free because even if it was legalized today, there would still be many many people who look down on weed and stoners. And still many people would have to hide it from their families and loved ones, because many people are so attached to the idea "weed is bad because its a drug and its a drug because its bad".
And now something else than just pointing out the false faqs of this thread.
As you can guess, I smoke. Sometimes 24/7 for months, sometimes I dont smoke for 2 months. Why I smoke? It helps me with my panic disorder, helps me with drawing (mostly because I'm not that criticising then and I tend to try out new things, experimenting), helps with stress and makes everything better. My favorite food, it tastes over 9000 times better when I'm high. Comfy clothes feel like heaven when I'm high. Shower feels like I'm in the middle of some tropical jungle, under a waterfall. My dogs fur, oh how fucking soft and nice it feels. And most importantly, sex. Fuck yeah.
Does weed make me stupid? Hell no. Before I started smoking, I wasnt interested in things. The only things I knew were stuff told to me at school and at home, I wasnt interested in learning new things. Now I'm into politics, I love documentaries and learning random things is fun. And yes, I do learn, weed hasnt taken that away from me :) But I've been thinking why most of the stoners seem so stupid, I have two theories:
1. Even tho I like learning nowdays, and its especially fun when I'm high, I only like to learn about things I like and that are interesting. If I'm not interested in some subject, there's no way I'm going to remember it especially if I'm high.
So I know about things that interest me. But the things that arent interesting, I dont know about them and even if I tried, no way I could remember them for longer than a day.
2. I know lots of stuff and I think alot, but especially when I'm high my mind races so fast I cant really keep up with my mouth. If I start talking about politics high, I'm not even halfway talking when my mind is already on other topic and its not usually very easy to just rewind back to the politics. And everything I say from then on sounds just stupid.
Also, I know this thread is OLD. But I just wanted to point out some things in this thread, in case if anyone else happens to read this. And I dont blame those people who said things that arent true, even if it may sound like that. Its the fault of the drug propaganda and drug companies who do everything to keep cannabis away from people who really need it as a medication.
Heck, I've been to many anti-drug sites and the worst and funniest lie I found is that cannabis causes males to grow feminine big boobs if you smoke regularly. Its funny, because all of the long term smokers I know dont have even the smallest man boobs, just totally flat or with a bit of muscles, but no fat.
But even tho I smoke, and even tho I know many of the bad things of cannabis are just made up by drug companies, I know that cannabis isnt 100% free. But on the other hand, nothing is. And its just that weed is one of the safest drugs and it should be legalized because its your own business what you do with your body.
And lets say that if in general all the drugs were legal, it would be easier for people to actually get help on their addictions. If a heroin addict really starts to think he needs help, he most likely wont try to get it, because he knows what he does is illegal, and if he tried to get help, doctors wouldnt treat him very well. But if drugs were legal, it would be easier for addicts to get help, because they wouldnt be doing anything illegal and thus many lives would be saved.
Heard about
Portugals drug policy?
If anyone wants to talk about this, I'm usually here every day :) [size=8]now I'll just hope I can post this freaking huge wall of text without breaking anything D: [/h]
