It's on the masterlist as "Dark Soul". If he did, in fact search, he probably searched Dark Souls. Hence the double topic.
You really think the lack of a "s" makes a difference? Because I don't.
If you Ctrl+F "Dark Souls" it would come up as 0 results found. Therefore If he did search for a topic already created for Dark Souls then he wouldn't get any results.

In the process of typing "Dark" and "Soul" he would likely find what it was he was looking for. Regardless, this whole thing is assuming he did in fact search, something I very much doubt.

Spoiler:
You're a tad bit uptight about this. So what if it's a double post? It happens. Kindly saying that there is another topic about this game would more than likely deter him from doing it again.

Sorry if I come off as uptight. I don't mean to, I guess it's just my nature.

Got my copy today and the main land is broken into two questions.
Where do I go and How will I die?

If you played Demon's Souls and have played this game, please let me know if there are any differences in the stat system (or leveling system, if you prefer).

I never trust Gamespot or IGN since their scores are almost always inflated and determined through how much money they were paid...
Busy with exams and papers until this weekend, but I already have it installed on my PS3.

It adds Magic/Miracle slots so it's easier to maintain unlike demon's souls where you either had to choose Faith, Magic/Intel, or just have a mixture of the two. It allows a little more freedom when it comes to using Spells and Miracles. Other than that, nothing has really changed.

I need help from people who are up to the part with the ghosts.
So the entire map is crawling with these things that can't be hurt, even by magic, and they have a range of 30 feet with, as usual, punishing damage every blow (not to mention the pretty much insta-kill attacks).
There were, from what I saw, four "curses" you could get that would let you hurt them.
Firslty, a Tip: Just before the first wooden bridge across that black lake is a big jar with a guy inside. Break the jar and let the body fall out. Once you do you can pick up a "transient curse" (X2 and usable item). You CANNOT get it back once you use it, so make sure you stock up on Fire Bombs (since a single fire bomb takes out half of a ghost's health. Once you've stocked up, cross the bridges and use your transient curse. The effect is temporary, but should last long enough to take out whatever of these cheap bastards you run across. Be sure NOT to waste it, though, because once it's gone...it's gone.
Here's where I need help. I found two other transient curses further in, but I died. A lot. The game kept spawning these things right behind me when there was nothing there. Maybe they phased through the wall from magical bullshit land? I don't know. Point is this game has now been broken for me in the worst way.
Without a transient curse, there's NO WAY I know of to even touch these cheap bastards, and the map is literally full of them. I've tried magic, remembering my experience with Oblivion, but no. Magic is ineffective. Weapons are ineffective. NOTHING IS EFFECTIVE.
_So, what the hell do I do? I tried mad dashing my way through, but there's too many of them. They're everywhere! This game has the ridiculous idea that having a single auto-save is a good idea, so now I can't load anything to get more curses. I'm fucked.
Anyone know of any other way to kill a ghost in this game? I've been stuck here for three hours, dieing constantly.
I'm about ready to take this shit back to the sender. I gave up Skyrim because this game was my number one pick. Now, if no one can give me any help, and if I really well and truly am stuck for good, then fuck this game.
It's one thing to be hard, but it's another to be impossible, and without any way to attack these things, the level (and therefore the game) is impossible. Someone's gotta know something. Anything!

Your in the wrong area; Go to your left while next to the starter area bonfire and you'll see some stairs that lead to the first playable area. New londo ruins is a mid game area unless your extremely good at running away. (I made the same mistake. Trans Curse can be brought later in the game from the Zombie merchant in the Undead burg (Lower area) but you'll need the basement key for that.
Your going to ask about a bow sooner or later. You can buy one in the area I mentioned from the Undead merchant but the staircase is guarded by Two Hollow spear knights. They can't run after you and they are slow until you hit them. There's a Hollow behind the bookcases just before the merchant area. Kill him first or he'll attack you while your buying your bow. Back track to the spear knights and head up the stairs to your left and cross the wooden bridge for the bonfire. Bonfires can't be used if monsters are chasing you and it resets the area too. The boss for this area is easy with Firebombs and plunging attacks. For the plunging attacks, There's a ladder off to the left in a boss area. Two archers are up there so kill them then start the boss fight once your ready. Once the fight starts run back to the ladder and climb up for the plunge but do it quickly or the boss will jump up there.
Also, There's a special weapon that you can get after your first boss fight. You'll need about 50 - 60 arrows for it and it simply requires that you shoot the red dragon's tail from under the bridge. The path to the lower part of the bridge is to the right of the knights. Go through the door on your left and you'll see a ladder, Kick it and you'll have a shortcut. Go back and kill the two knights under the bridge then start Shooting the dragon's tail. If the dragon doesn't spawn, Kill yourself and go back to that area. Shooting off the tail gives you a Rare dragon weapon called the drake sword. Its stat requirements are a little high so lvl up if needed. The downfall about this sword is that it doesn't get stronger as you do but can be upgraded with Dragon scales *Not recommended*. Two handing this weapon gives it's Heavy attack a special attack but it drains DUR so don't use it.
It's great for killing monsters quickly and it's fairly fast.
One last thing... DON'T even try to kill Black Knights (Very tall and always guarding something) as they will hand you ass to you unless you have the drake sword. If you picked the Master key when you made your char, Don't fight the NPC at the bottom of the stairs before the first boss unless you have the drake sword. His attacks are 1HKOs but are slow so it gives you a Opportunity to back stab him. He drops a ring that grants "Equipment load UP".
Both of these monsters require Effective dodging skills and knowing how to backstab. Fighting them head on leads to a quick death.
A small guide and I hope you find it helpful.
EDIT: Forgot to mention arrows; You can buy them from the same merchant i mentioned and the cost 10 souls each. If your low on souls you can abuse the bonfire's revive effect and farm souls until you have enough. Never buy wooden arrows as they are weak.

Yes and no. First, thanks a lot, mate. Encouragement is great (thanks Hentanize), but after three hours of doing the same shit over and over I was just done.
_You see, I already completed that section, ending with the Undead Parish. I rang the bell after going through that horrible arch boss fight (I needed to be human so I could summon an NPC who gave me their info. The fight was pretty much impossible otherwise).
I know all about the things you told me. I managed to kill two of the three major knights I spotted. One carried a mace so it was easy to dodge while the other, a golden MF, was all about getting him into the spiraling staircase nearby and giving him the higher ground, so his forward thrusts went over my head and I could slice his ass up with a halberd I found.
_You said that the zombie merchant sold transient curse? I'll go check that out. You see, after ringing the bell and completeing the Undead place, I took the lift in the parish back to the overworld area (the shrine place) and talked to the listless guy sitting there. He told me the next place to go was some underground city, and that I "might find clues there", but also that I'd only do so "if the ghosts didn't get to me first".
After the parish, the next stop seems to be the underground city, the place you and I were talking about. He even mentions it early on in the two places where you have to go to ring two bells for "something interesting to happen".
I'm at the right place (great makeshift guide though, mate!), but the enemies are bullshit. I'll check in with the zombie merchant again to see if he can sell me trans curses. If so, then I'll keep the game. If not, then there's no way for me to progress, and I'll either try to worm my money back or set it on fire. Likely the former, unless another three hours of hell ensues.
Thanks again, mate.
