man, I still can't beat Long Gui before it rise(use summon)again. Stuck with remaining 1million hp

The linearity killed the game for me. It was over even before it began. I still pushed myself to finish this though since no self-respecting RPG fan will leave a game halfway done.

I finally Bought FF XIII for only $5. XD It's really a Nice Bargain
Thanks to FOG. :D
Now I can play this without worrying about wasting my money. :P
Factual truths:
-It's Second Hand (Still in Great Quality, no scratches on BD and Box)
-I bought it through FOG, in Japan for only 500 Yen. Then he sent it to my place. :D
-It's the Japanese Version lol

man, I still can't beat Long Gui before it rise(use summon)again. Stuck with remaining 1million hpdeath spam ;D i used death spam to farm when i was still under-levelled and under-geared on those adamantortoise and long gui.
basically have:
Vanille - leader
Hope (Sazh works too)
Fang
set paradigms to:
Saboteur
Synergist
Saboteur
when the battle starts, hope that hope/sazh has enough time to cast haste on him/herself then you (they always cast on self first). if the turtle has 1 leg lifted, quickly just summon away; you wont get hit no matter what.
the moment you summon the turtle will fall. If you got hasted, you can use this chance to spam death on the turtle while its on the ground if not, just gestalt and instantly use the finisher (Triangle for ps3). when hope/sazh and fang gets back, fang will be spamming debuffs while your synergist will be spamming buffs. at that moment, keep spamming death.
When everyone is hasted (Thats all you really need), get your buffer to switch to ravager and resume spamming deaths. once the chain gauge breaks, return to synergist as haste should have run out by then (And resume spamming deaths all the time). When the turtle gets back up, restart the fight and start over (press start then select).
If you are lucky, the turtle will die in the first few seconds (fastest long gui kill i got was 14 seconds, and that was when i wasnt anywhere close to filling up even 1 crystarium tree)
take note that the above tactic works when you are completely undergeared/etc
(you WILL be farming ALOT ALOT ALOT of these if you want the ultimate weapons for your characters, coz turtles drop platinum ingots [150,000 gil each] commonly, and trapezohedron rarely [2,000,000 gil in the shop, you use this item to get your ultimate weapon])
while farming the turtles this way, work your way to these to make your life with farming turtles alot easier:
1. Sprint Shoes (Auto-haste) <=== google a strat on obtaining these.
2. marlboro wand <=== for vanille, to increase death %age chance.
3. a 3rd character to have saboteur role <== you will see why later
4. alot of TP boost items <=== to get your TP high enough to summon so you can farm without much of a break between turtle fights, dont use ethersols mcuh as there is no way to obtain them in the game other than to dismantle TP sash's which is NOT economical at all).
here are some things that increase death's %age chance of hitting:
- Vanille's saboteur level (obvious)
- Getting a marlboro wand
- Haste (faster cast speed = more attempts)
- Each saboteur debuff on the turtle increase death's %age chance a little (the more debuffs on the turtle, the higher the chance)
- If the turtle is staggered, chance is increased
- the more saboteurs at that point in time, the higher the chance (thus, after staggering the turtle and getting everyone hasted [by sprint shoes or synergist], go Sab/Sab/Sab for highest chance to use death on the turtle.
^ all this is probability, and sometimes you can get so lucky that without setting up, your first death kills him. Or at times, death never seems to hit even though how many times you try with all these set up.
Probability is a bitch...
Either ways, hope that helps, happy hunting
Welcome to Final Fantasy Turtleen

I actually like the game despite the reviews, it's good enough and the graphics set it apart from other games. Though I must admit I much rather watch a movie about 13 than play this game. It feel like your watching a JDrama anyway.

wasn't the game supposed to be PS3 exclusive in Japan, but they recently announced an Xbox 360 release anyway? o.O The game was localized (poorly) on both consoles in English.

I Have to say this game made me Regret playing it. when they could have just as well just made a movie and had the same effect. no thought went into the game it was one big long movie with you pushing three buttons

will there be any news that FFXIII would be available on PC?
I've been mainly using my money to upgrade my PC, so I only have a PS2 as my game console

I wouldn't count on that. Square doesn't tend to port their games to the pc. Plus, if they had intentions of doing that, they would have announced it already.

Hey I am about to go and buy this game because I am a final fantasy fan and I've been to poor to buy it now that I can I hope I will love it.
I will love it just as any other FF game but I hope it stands out to me I don't care about what reviews say If the game brings me joy it does not matter.
I know I am going to love this game and all those haters can just shut up.

I'm a final fantasy fan too, but this doesn't feel at all like a final fantasy game. It looks like one, but it doesn't feel like one.
To me, final fantasy is about taking your party around a fantasy world and doing quest with or for the people you meet while trying to save the world or kingdom at the same time. It is about visiting new towns. It is about learning about your characters while taking them where YOU want to go, and unlocking or discovering things YOU want to discover. It is about the fantastic universe you are in, and that you not only have to save, but you GET TO EXPERIENCE. Most importantly, it is about feeling like you are experiencing someone's story and taking part in that story.
Instead FFXIII is about pressing a few buttons while you watch characters run down hallways disguised as different environments and just passing through a world your are supposed save but never get to experience unless it involves a cut scene.
Most importantly, FFXIII is NOT a RPG. Role-playing Game means you get to play that role and you make decisions that effect the game. This can mean playing a game like Mass Effect where you literally make decisions and change your world, or playing a game like Dragon Quest where the decisions are based on where you want to go and what weapons you want to equip or who is in your party. Perhaps you get to choose how you want to level up.
FFXIII doesn't give you any of those choices. For most of the time, you can't even chose who is in your party. You always are going to chose the latest weapon you unlocked, and the level up system at most has branches that you HAVE TO fill out before you can level up any further. There are no choices, you just watch and pretend you're doing things.
One might say that FFXIII would be an awesome game if you ever got to actually play it.

Most people hate it because of the lack of "immersive" gameplay.
-The normal battles can take a while, with the average of 1-5 minutes. Depends on how many enemies you're facing.
-There's no real "exploring" until you reach a certain chapter. Kills motivation for some players who expected the same system from Final fantasy games and the Linearity kills too.
-Battles are simplified (dumbed downed) with too many automatic things going on.
-You can only control the leader
-Party changing will be available after you reach a certain chapter
-Leader dies = Game Over...
Point is, IT's good, but compared to other previous Final Fantasy it's not that good.

So I bought this game on the release date (No Car, ran my ass to target to pick it up).
Heres a very simplistic review
Positive:
+ Visuals, Simply Stunning and You wanna stare at the scenery for minutes
+ Music, although not much some of the tracks are actually pretty good
Negative:
- Story, Falce and I'ce, Eidolons what the fuck is going on?
- Bland, Dull Characters (Except for Sazh)
- Snow (I really hate this character, Absolutely Cliche, SERAH SERAH SERAH SERAH)
- Combat System (Dumb Downed... to the point you felt like your retarded)
- Linear, One city but you only go there once... You won't be able to free roam til Disc 3, even that's limited.
- Tedious, Pressing the attack button constantly and boring gameplay means Sleeping mid-fights.
Verdict:
If you had a chance to buy this used or Pre-owned, buy it... at a lower price. Its not worth the $60 bucks because no DLC will ever be released.

I see well thank you guys for you imput I do hope this game will be a good buy. for me at least and to be honest I might not mind the liner playing because I actually know what I am doing. but tediousness has me scared. but I will buy it and love it for what it is like a child as long as it entertains me I'll be fine. yes I will go down with the FF ship until my dyeing days...........god why can't this game just be as good as I hoped it would be.
