The console wars
Which is your favorite console

@ HentaiGuru: Improve your logic. One lost exclusive doesn't mean the end of Sony. What does Netflix have to do with anything anyway?

There is really little point in arguing who the "winner" of the console wars is going to be cause the wii won that a long time ago. The wii has over 20 million more units sold then the 360 with no sign of those numbers slowing down in sales so there is little point in continuing to argue it. I still believe that the PS3 is going to come in second out of all of this. Our economy and it's $399 price isn't helping. Also you have to keep in mind that the 360 had a whole year head start of the PS3 to make a core foundation for it's sales. The 360 has 9 million more units sold world wide then the PS3 does. 95% of those sales are in America. The PS3 still beats the 360 in Japan at about a 3/1 sale rate. If you count the rest of the world that is selling these consoles the 360 is only beating the PS3 by about 1.5 million consoles.
Hopefully we will see a boost in sales for the PS3 when the Slim version comes out and the price drops.

final fantasy 13 on xbox could hold the record for most discs for a game the ff13 demo alone would take 2 almost 3 discs unless they cut a whole lot of corners the game will be over 6 discs easy

I love how everyone assumes it is going to take a butt load of discs, when there is nothing saying, in the ballpark, how many discs it is going to take. I mean Lost Odyssey took four discs, but Mistwalker didn't compress a lot of data that could have been compressed. Plus they had five, full language options, which to this day I fail to see the point.

Nothing like releasing a new model a year or two before the consoles are cast aside from the new generation. I fail to see Sony's logic in that one. At least the PS2 still had some support afterwards, but at the rate the PS3 is going it won't likely have the same post-generation support that the PS2 had.

Introducing a new console next would be a big mistake since there's really no need to. I would expect the 360 to eventually follow in the PS3s foot steps with blu ray. Probably in the next generation or in a new SKU. What Nintendo will do with the wii I have no clue. They seems to have found the best selling formula ever so there's no need to change.

Do you want longer loading times than you already have?

Compression mate works wonders on just about everything.
I suspect the reason for the huge file size for final fantasy is due to the fact it's got masses of pre-rendered cg cut scenes included.
Otherwise it's all just he masses of textures for characters, scripting for animation can be kept relatively small and executed on the fly.
But this is all just speculation though.

Load times aren't that bad on the 360. They are still faster than the average load times on the PS3 so if they can be about equal then that is fine by me, and even if that meant longer load times I don't really mind. I don't know why we come to hate load times so much. Is every current gamer some 5-year-old who never grew up with a PSX or the other early CD-ROM based systems. Jeez. It's like, go buy a Commodore Vic20 or 64 and put a floppy-disc game in and wait for it to load. You'll have a whole new appreciation for these "ridiculous" load times of this generation.
Oh yeah because the DS and PSP's multiple versions are so special. I hate it when they pull that. Let's out random, mostly useless features and charge people extra for it. Yeah, that's a great marketing strategy. I'll give the PSP small credit because there is quite a difference in load times between the 1000 and 2000, but the 3000 is a joke. The DS to DS Lite was stupid. Oh, little smaller, lighter, and a GBA cartridge that sticks out like a sore thumb, and don't even get me started on the DSi. Dumbest thing Nintendo has come up with yet. PSP Go? Oh come on.

i dont care all that much about multi discs games i have ff7,8,9 but the demo for 13 was 5gb and that was almost 30min of gameplay i would say it will be atleast a 50/60+ hours i would actually like a multi disc ps3 game the longer the game the better

The 360 uses DVD9 disks which hold 7.5 GBs of data. FF13 will require multiple disks that is for sure and yes it might be the most multiple disked game yet for the 360. For all the crap Blur ray and the PS3 get for having blu ray it is still amazing no matter how much fanboys of other consoles complain. 200GBs on a single disk fucking rapes DVD9's 7.5GBs.

Almost every "Exclusive" that was for the ps3 has come to the xbox360.. FF13 was to be an "Exclusive" for the ps3.. but i see it coming to the 360 also.. what happened there Sony Fanboys? The same could be said about the 360(except even more games are transferred to the PS3, and with bonuses). Look at ToV, Bioshock, Eternal Sonata to name a few. Exclusives are timed nowadays.

However, the better the console, the better the game, the more data to be processed.

Quick question.. every time i post in this thread i get -rep.. WTF?!?!
My point was that allmost every game that says "exclusive" has gone Multi-Platform
Anyway.. the $499 was being sarcastic.. I own a PS3.. and bought it for $399.. Honestly I dont think anyone could sit there and say thier console is better without owning and using all 3.. and Netflix is a huge contributing factor to why the xbox360 would/could be the best console to get.. yes PS3 has Blue-Ray, but why go out and buy a $30-$40 movie when you could just pop the movie into your instint que and watch it... theres what.. I'd speculate about a few million people that use netflix? I bet almost every1 of them owns an xbox360..
I'm just saying that the Xbox Experience is better then the PS3.. and more and more games are/will be Multi-Platform.. thus why buy a ps3 for a game you can get on your 360? it negates the entire reason to buy a console just for a game.. which most HC Gamers would do..
Honestly, the only thing going for the PS3 right now is MAG...
Oh yeah and heres another Reason why the 360 will top the PS3 - Project Natal
Again I own all three consoles.. and I still believe that the Xbox 360 Is not only the best Console for the money, but provides the best Online Experience.. and with most games going Multi-Platform, Is the best choice for someone to buy.

If that's the case then I am sure this thing called the computer must be the must own thing for everyone as well.
As you know the PS3 has movie rental and buying options as well not to mention you can stream movies on a PS3 from Netflix as well. So I don't see why it's a huge contributing factor when it is nothing special at all.

Being an awesome blu ray player as well as having a free online network certainly wouldn't be any reason to buy it. Not to mention any of the exclusives Sony will get (Admittedly exclusives do sometimes go multiplatform but certainly not all or even a large margin).

The 360 and PS3 just want some of the amazing fucking money Nintendo is raking in with crap like this. Not to mention the PS3 does have it's own version of the interactive play now.

natal is retarded motion controls in general i fucking hate it is not that im lazy but natal isnt going to be pin point accurate so i dont care when it is like futurama internet ill care. really would you want video games based on your athletic skill natal will ruin video games and there is a good chance could kill off xbox cause mircosoft is going to push and push natal till it is just a better wii and there will be no hardcore games on xbox so have fun playing xbox sports and painting stupid elephants cause thats what it will come to

Oh, and just because the Commodore and PSX had some shitty load times doesn't make for an adequate excuse for current gen. consoles to have the same.

Of course it does. It's basic math. More data means more time to read. I don't know where we came up with this concept that load times are outdated. They are never going to go away. For every time we have a new device that reads data faster, we have mediums that contain more and more data. Two progressively increasing, meaning one isn't going to go away.
I have an original (fat) DS and a PSP-1000. I have no reason to buy any more versions. I fail to see why so many people continue to buy multiple versions. It is a colossal waste of money but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Buying a new DS for that camera, or whatever it was, however makes no sense, the fuck would i want with a camera on my DS..
