So, any thoughts on whether or not Microsoft smartens up, realizes they are fucking themselves over, and changes thing.Or do you think they are going to continue to go full retard into this?
I mean they have the numbers that shows them just what the consumers thought of their reveal so they SHOULD know what is going to happen if they leave it as is.
My guess is that they won't change anything, since that would mean admitting they're wrong. If they admit they're wrong, that would hurt their pride or something. I think that they're just going to say that consumers are idiots for not wanting to pick up something this groundbreaking. Not those exact words, but you get the idea.
I'm guessing they think they don't have anything to lose since they don't make money off of used games anyway. That's a pretty greedy way of thinking. I mean, they could at least allow people's friends to play a game free for one month, then when that time limit expires they'd have to pay full price, or play using the same account.

If they admit they're wrong, that would hurt their pride or something. That reasoning would work for an individual, but not for a money-grubbing profit maximizing entity beholden to its shareholders. If it significantly affects profitability, they'll create skid marks and reenact the obama campaign, boasting change. That's what I'd like to see. However, what is more likely is that they'll find cleverer ways to sugar coat their product's features while clinging on to wallet raping technology until it becomes too costly to maintain the policies they use. They won't admit they fucked up, they'll just tout new "benefits," or whatever tripe their chief marketing cocksucker can think up.
They could also claim that they changed their policies to better serve the consumer, wording it in such a way that it seems like they've always given a shit about them.

It might be a little old but
http://marketingland.com/microsoft-posts-21b-in-revenue-xbox-may-beat-windows-revenues-soon-3914
At least shows that the Xbox and the revenue it accounts for is about 1/5th of Microsoft's overall revenue stream.
The failure of the X-Box One is going to take a huge tole on them if they release it as is. Especially since that amount would account for most of the cash flow they have in the company.
And with the poor showing of Windows 8 this might very well cause a lot of problems for them in the future.

Hardly. The 360 is the main focus of that particular division. Microsoft is not going to go 101% retard and abandon it.
Microsoft's 2012 Annual Report wrote...
Entertainment and Devices Division . . .Principal Products and Services: Xbox 360 gaming and entertainment console, Kinect for Xbox 360, Xbox 360 video games, Xbox 360 accessories; Xbox LIVE; Skype; and Windows Phone.
In 2012, the EDD accounted for about 13% of Microsoft's consolidated revenues, and it has been earning more each year.
Spoiler:
This is not to say that it's very profitable, relatively speaking, since their operating income (revenues - cost of doing business) from that division is only 365 mil.
The xbone release will simply split microsoft's attention. How consumer's will react is still an open question, but a siphoning from the 360's profits is what I expect, considering that casuals will likely get the thing. It'll be hilarious if the 360 gets more popular after release. At least they'd finally be marketing for themselves instead of nintendo and sony.

I don't see too many exclusives for the next xbox eitherNot much yet, but the fuckers are looking.
2012 report also wrote...
We believe the success of gaming and entertainment consoles is determined by the availability of games for the console, providing exclusive game content that gamers seek, the computational power and reliability of the console, and the ability to create new experiences via online services, downloadable content, and peripherals.

I didn't say they were going to abandon it. I'm just saying if they release it in its current form they are going to really hurt themselves.
But that's only profit in 365 million. If they lose out on sales and the X-Box One is a complete flop then it would cut past profit and into the actual Revenue creating a significant loss.
Sure the windows and Microsoft business divisions are more profitable, but a poor performance of the X-Box could dis-benefit them in two ways.
1. Profit is still Profit. If they don't show a profit then it's eating into the money they invested into it. If it does that it will take away from the profit made elsewhere lowering the overall money they have available to reinvest in the company as a whole.
2. It would hurt their brand image as a whole and would affect their overall business negatively causing a lot of consumer loyalty to disappear. This in turn would also affect the attitude of investors which fewer investors would mean less money increase business.
Oh I know they are looking for exclusives for their next x-box. I just think that companies are going to realize a bad ship and will avoid making those types of deals with x-box even if microsoft is looking for them.

Right now I am feeling like switching to the PS4, but there will be some games that will be made for the old consoles. I think instead of spending more money on a new consoles; I would rather buy the games I missed out on.

Also, consider their Online Services Division's 8 billion operating loss. Bad, but not something to go apeshit about considering the consolidated results. I doubt the xbone will harm them to the extent you think it might.

Microsoft is still in damage control mode internally. Now, like magic, the used game fee is no more, but the constant check-ins are still there. At the very least, micro-softie is shutting the fuck up about it.

Microsoft's Larry Hryb touched on the topic of used games on his blog . . ."The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox," according to the official statement he included in his post. "Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games."
If they were to charge a fee, that statement could still be claimed as accurate.

You know, I haven't heard, but are they still charging to play online, or are they getting rid of that?

Because Microsoft does not need investors, for anything.
Would their stock prices drop? Yes. Would some major holders begin selling off shares because Microsoft released a shitty generation of console hardware? Extremely unlikely. Even if it was a total, 100% loss, still extremely unlikely.
As for customer loyalty, Microsoft has a literal monopoly on business-class office software, most of their customers aren't even loyal to them as is, but there really isn't any other alternative when so many businesses are working with them. As an example, all engineers, with the exception of software engineers, use Excel, Access and PowerPoint for pretty much everything. Even businesses that prefer to use Apple hardware use MS Office as their go-to software suite, it's the industry standard and there is no competent alternative that has enough mind and market share to ever have a sliver of hope in replacing MS Office. This is backed up even more-so now that they're getting everyone to switch over to the 365 service, which is subscription based, it's basically cementing their share in the market, especially when you take into consideration that most people are switching out privately hosted Exchange servers for Microsoft's own. I probably don't need to explain why Windows isn't going to go anywhere anytime soon either.
A game console release bombing would have very little effect on the rest of Microsoft's outreach.
Well, fuck the summary, nuff' said.

Looks like I'm going to be going to PS4, or get more into PC gaming because sadly the new XBOX looks like a pile of shit to me =/ and I've been an avid XBOX fan since the original's release. So this really makes me sad to see how it shaped up to be like this.

Man, Sony holding their balls on their actual console design reveal has turned out to be the shrewdest tactical maneuver of the year.
