The EMP blasts might be simply a side effect of all those nukes going off. Another reason why they would hit it off with an EMP blast is to try to fry enemy warning systems, or prevent retaliation. Remember, Ep.8 makes it pretty clear that American government was expecting some sort of attack from foreign powers and that they had a plan to strike first to prevent that from happening. Which proves moot, since by that point, every major power had launched nukes, or at least that's what I feel from the ISS guys dialogue.
Or you know, it might be some big Umbrella conspiracy that plays out in the background.
Finally, they wiped off the smug grin from that guy's face. God, did I loved that moment where Takagi's dad went "GTFO shithead". Waited for it for so long.
And Rei matured this episode, especially with her not killing the teacher when it became obvious that he wanted to be stabbed. Objectively, leaving him live and suffer in the hell-hole of the world is far worse really, but at the same time, she got over her personal revenge thing. At least that's what I think.
She still has a years to go, but she seems to be less unbalanced than she was at the very beginning (though I wonder if this wasn't the writers plan all along).
Pretty solid episode. Now waiting for nukes to hit the fan.

They did mention Armageddon so nukes might follow afterwards. *facepalm*
It seems some of you dont understand that an Electo Magnetic Pulse coincides with a nuclear blast; they go hand in hand. Now, the effects of an EMP can be greatly increased if you detonate a nuke in the upper atmosphere (High-altitude Electo Magnetic Pulse) which you could say is even more damaging than just nuking an area because I dare to guess that people know what an EMP does.
So instead of just nuking the world, America and everyone else fired nukes and will have them detonate in the atmosphere to prevent other countries from launching a direct nuclear attack.

It follows the manga well, got nothing to be excited about except the animation.
but with all the the great stuff, s1 end is near.
the ED song rocks, i love it. Perfect for its episode.

Just watched the last episode, and I must say that I enjoyed the ride.
Anyways, this was one of my favorite shows of the Summer season, and now I wish to read the manga. Can anyone tell me which chapter the story left off on, or should I read the manga from the beginning?

It stopped on Ch15. Sixteen picks up right at the end of the last episode. I don't know if I want to read any farther though since the anime is so close to the manga that I sorta don't want to ruin the fun of watching the anime.

Thanks! And I'm on the fence as well. I don't know how long I can wait for a second season announcement before caving and reading the manga instead.

Watched episode 12, and it's sad that it ended just there, when something more actually gonna happend. Read the shopping mall chapter in H.O.T.D manga, and it's gonna continue, but it's a high probability that it will be a season two. Since there is pointless that the anime just ends in a middle of a situation. It's just can't stop and have happy ending in the shopping mall.
AND!!.. I want to see Shizuka Marikawa meet her friend.

The ending was pretty good overall.
I'm not really surprised that they're leaving it off for now, seeing as there probably isn't that much material to make a full next season.
I love how the whole thing in the background borders between "holy, that's some bad luck" and "IT'S A CONSPIRACY".
For a minute there, I was convinced we would have a Bolivian Army Ending there in the mansion, and I was glad that the group avoided it. Too bad 'bout Saya's parents, though as it implies, we don't know if they did go down fighting or escaped. Nevertheless, most GAR parents this couple of seasons, you will be missed.
Bonus points for that creepy teacher smashing into that concrete block.

What sort of cheesy carebears bullshit ending was this? Overall, this series made kamfer look good, and that's saying a lot. You know what, scratch that. Kamfer was a lot better then this huge disappointment that is Hotd.

So, let's hear more about your opinion, so please elaborate, without trash talking first.
