As much as yours are.I don't deny I make personal attacks, but they aren't in Serious Discussion. I'm saying what you did here is a personal attack. If you wish to continue this, we can do it in PM, I believe we've derailed this thread enough.

Certain things strike out at me, such as is there a need for a 13-story building just dedicated to Islamic culture? I dunno, but 13 floors sound a bit excessive to me.So, how many floors would be okay? 12? 5? 3.1415?
Mirth aside-
I like how the hysteric sanctification of "ground zero" has reached such gross psychopathological levels that a non-event like this even makes national news.
Who cares where they're building their public lavatory of dead-epileptic-tribesman worship? It's that fact that they're building any at all that should be upsetting you people.

The area where they're building does need revitalizing though. A community center would be great for drawing more people and more business to the area...that is if idiots would stop making mountains out of molehills.

I dunno, what community center do you know of has more than 10 floors?

Let's just say they won't settle with the average and want to be the cool kids on the block. They're deviants who won't conform to the norm.

Then again, this is New York, and for the number of amenities they're gonna have, 13 floors seems a bit too little. I mean, let's take a look at what they wanna build:
Spoiler:
This will easily be more than 10 floors.

i think whoever is putting it there is putting it there so the anmesty towards muslims can dissapear a bit, showing people they arent as bad as some people make em out to be by having a place where muslims go and hopefully show good examples to other people close by to the grounds, which at first glance at the topic title i was all doubletaking.
thats just a veiw from a muslim, me. peace!

I never said i wasn't bias either, its a debate, what do you expect? That doesn't justify it. I don't care if you're biased, but when debating, stick with logic and reasoning. That's what I expect.

You do realize it doesn't matter if it is in SD or not? Fakku rule number 1 applies to ALL discussions and threads.

Either way, no more thread derailment from here out of me, I'll leave it as that. If either of you or anyone else has any problems with this or my two previous posts PM me, unless an overinflated ego needs you to get the last word in.

I honestly never understood the issue. I thought America was the place for all the misfits and runaways. Considering the Christians were colonized here because the Catholics didn't like 'em. Can't there be a little more religious tolerance? I don't see Buddhist monks knocking on my door early in the morning asking me if I'd like a word with Jesus. (I seriously would not, it's too early and I'm not in the mood.)
Those who are religious may be against a Mosque, but they're not against things like strip clubs near/around that area. Suddenly when someone wants to build a building that fits a minority group those against the mosque have to cry. Because obviously, building a mosque or Church anywhere somehow affects their way of living and is bad for their health. See now, it's either a mosque or a highly radioactive building. There must be some invisible radio waves that only affect those who dislike Islamic culture, because they seem so intent on not getting one built. This type of fear could be compared to Vampires and Garlic. (Fictional)
We should be bitching about more important things, pollution, trash all over the streets, hookers, human trafficking, drug wars in Mexico. AIDs...?

It made Fox News. It's a political ploy in its entirety. The Republicans recently voted down a healthcare bill for the first responders on 9/11 who haven't yet died from their respiratory problems and various cancers, and then lo, this shitstorm takes hold. Murdoch is just baiting the Tea Party bunch to sustain the right's current momentum.
As everything has pretty much been said by now, I'll again highlight the fact that some 300 Muslims also died in the WTC attacks. Whatever the resulting friction, I think Imam is right to stand firm over the location. It was already used for prayer, it's convenient, it would be a beneficial investment for the area, and it's making a statement that the handful of actual, steadfast protesters would do well to learn. This is, of course, quite aside from the fact that most of the opposition is coming from outside of the city, where people surely have absolutely no right to get involved.

well, im sort of neutral on the whole thing, but i guess to get rid of enmity is indeed what i mean.

hahaha yessssssss
“By preventing this mosque from being built, America is doing us a big favor,” a Taliban operative named Zabihullah told the weekly. “It’s providing us with more recruits, donations, and popular support.”

well, this can be one sided, with the "taliban representative" telling the weekly something that the bigots actually want to hear.
and I sense this is just another false information since, You obviously need to keep it in secret if you want to recruit people secretly.... >_>.
But there's also a possibility that IF this is true, The Taliban is using the Community Center on their own without the consent of the Builders of the Community Center, which will always happen in any organization.
EDIT: After some thinking, yes these protesters will lead some confused muslims to the corner and like in the article said, most of them will be scared and then join the taliban just because they don't know how to react and fight back.
The fear of them being treated not as a peaceful individuals made them go to taliban.
