The person that takes fire souls is dead for some reason and I can't use the fire at the Fire Link Shrine.
I wonder if I'm meant to do some thing to rectify it but there isn't any thing to go on.

Same thing happened to me. Did you freed the guy wearing golden armor before the Gargoyle boss?

Yea, I read that picking up a Fire Soul from Blight town triggers it. I got no idea how I am meant to get to the area I think I need to go through Sen's Forrest but do that I need to find the second bell.
This game is good but it lacks clarity in what you need to do. I suppose it adds to the difficulty but there is too little information on a lot of things (in game).
OMG I can get invaded by random guys about 50 hours playing and I just find out now(offline).

[color=#006FFF]Question!
Does anyone know a place where the Curse thing that's needed to fight the ghosts in the Ruins can be purchased? I know you can pick up two of them right at the front of the place, but I used up one of them, and I'd rather not run out already, lol.

There's this undead merchant lady in Undead Burg that sells only four of them for 4000 souls a pop. However, ghost are suppose to drop Transient Curses when killed, as well as "Jagged Edge of the Ghost", which is a weapon that supposedly damage them without the need of a curse. I haven't made it there yet (I haven't had a lot of time to play recently) so I don't know how effective is such weapon.

Anyone know a decent place to farm souls that isn't that far into the game?
I need to boost my vitality and endurance badly.

[color=#006FFF]Riiiight! I knew I saw someone who sold those somewhere. Thank you for jogging my memory there by telling me! As for the place itself, it's not as difficult as I thought it was (so far); then again, I got nowhere in that place, heh.
And yeah, I read about them dropping those too. I haven't gotten one just yet though. If it's of any beneficial use, I'll mention it when I get one (if no one else brings it up then, of course).
@Maeve: This is what I've been doing for the past hour or so. Very effective, 99.9% of the time.

Heh, one of the reasons I haven't been that far in the game. I spent like four hours in that place but I wasn't farming souls the whole time. You see, the only little flaw with that place is that there is this NPC there called Pharis that gives this really good bow "Black Bow of Pharis". The problem is that if Pharis falls into the pit, you lose all of her spoils including the bow. I spent like two or three hours trying to kill that NPC safely (as in, don't letting her fall from the cliff)to get that bow. However, after either you kill Pharis first or don't care about her bow, this place is great for farming souls. You can farm ~8000 souls there every time and the bonfire is just seconds away from you, so its perfect.

That leads me back to my previous question.
Who should I kill and who should I not?
Because I don't want to kill anyone critical... Yet. But I do want some decent weapons and armor.
The only guy I killed was that chainmail dude next to the fire at the shrine and all he gave me was some souls.

My basic rule is: "Don't try to kill the people that talks to you, only if they don't attack you first". If you really want to risk it, at least check the game's Wiki page to see if a character is relevant somehow or if it is "okay" to kill them. If you are trying to look for decent armor, the only choice for now is to get them as they come. Although I don't think it will have an effect, me killing that Pharis character that I mentioned earlier could alter something with the Forest Covenant where she was from. However, do note that there's always New Game+ if you somehow made a "mistake", that is if you are planning on following that route. Either way, killing that chainmail dude I believe does not affect the game at all, so its all good for now.
Oh yeah, you could kill this guy if you see him and he drops his armor but chances are that you won't have enough Endurance to handle the armor yet, though I don't know where are you at in the game right now.

You can buy them from the Sewer merchant just before the depths.
Best advice: Don't fight, Just run and get the key to the abyss and drain the water. Just keep running and dont stop unless you want the items there.
Also, There's a unofficial shortcut to get to the boss faster. Once you drain the water the first area with the two ghosts is where it's at. Go to your right and you'll see a ledge you can jump down from. From there just keep running to the boss.
EDIT: I knocked over the iron golem and It fell off the boss area for a instant kill. The irony of it all.

Just beat the butterfly earlier today. Still can't beat the carpa demon though. Keep getting ganked before I can run.

Keep getting ganked before I can run.hmm i recommend you go get the havel ring, right now it boostes your weight cap by 50%. its in the tower that leads to undead berg in darkroot basin, right at the entrances be careful because he will one hit u. just shield up and circle around him and wait for achance to backstab.
@smashspite, its time to backtrack to, firelink shrine but visit, the great hallow if u havent done so, but be careful. a lot of people fall to their death and get cursed there. also, farm those leech worms for large titanic shards, and 5 green titanic shards, u'll also get great souls along with it and the campfire is insite the great hallow, near the entrance
