What about applying something else to the surface for traction?Hmm without damaging the drive the only thing of that I can think of is carbon and I think that would do more damage. I still don't know why your friend used super glue because even if it didn't eat the plastic the buildup would create an imbalance that would prevent the disc from spinning correctly. I wish I could help but I think they are done.

Bear with me this may be long. So I recently borrowed some DVDs from a friend of mine. The first few worked just fine, however I put in the third and I hear an odd scrapping noise come out of my DVD player. Mind you My DVD player has played discs before and after just fine with no damage to either the DVDs or the player. So I inspect the DVD to find this strange white residue around the inner ring of the DVD where it fits into the turntable. I look at the other discs to see if they have it to. They all do with various levels of this mysterious buildup.
So I contact my friend to ask him if he knows something about this. He tells me that this build up is the result of a so called preservation project he had done to the entire series to prevent the DVDs from corroding, and the residue was dried super glue. However this dried super glue or something to do with it is cause the discs to incorrectly couple with the DVD players turntable and as a result make scrapping noises and such instead of actually reading and playing back the video encoded on them.
So I ask is there a ready solution to this problem?
The buildup is creating an unstable spin it sounds like. You could try fingernail polish remover but why anyone would use super glue to protect CD/DVDs is beyond me since the chemicals in those products melt plastic and are horribly hard to get rid of. If I had to guess though I would say they are toast. The chemicals probably corrupted the circle to sit on the spindle and if you look I am sure you will see pock marks.
I do a nice shrimp ramen foil packet but was considering changing it to use it to use dried shrimp to be more portable. Would add the ramen and shrimp and veggies and spices before leaving and then adding the liquids at the final destination. Just want some opinions on the viability of dried shrimp.

Spoiler:
Just because the applications are being developed, doesn't mean they'll be close to a retail release any time soon. Surely you understand the effort and time that goes into making good, robust apps.
As far as it goes, that is still ImperialX's opinion supported by facts or not. I know from personal experience how long it takes to develop an application for any operating system if you plan to produce something that has a higher level of quality. It would be especially difficult to try and develop an application that can compete with iMovie. As it stands right now, I don't see anything that can match it's level of productivity and ease of use coming in the near future for the Android Operating System.
I myself will be getting the 4G. why? Let's face it, if you have the money to pay for it I don't see reason not to go with the iPhone over any other mobile device. It simply goes above and beyond what other mobile devices of this current day and age can do.
But do you need all the features of the iPhone? This is what I don't understand and why I consider the iPhone to be nothing but a status symbol. How often do you actually use all the extra options on the iPhone? So far I am loving my Blackberry on the T-Mobile network because I have yet to find anything that I want to do not being available. Obviously this is just my opinion but I see no need for the iPhone(and for that matter android).

I say wait. If you really can't wait go for the HTC. I despise all iproducts since they are nothing more than a status symbol anymore. Personally I will stick with my crackberry since it offers everything I could ever need in a smart phone. I'll take functionality over bells and whistles any day.

[...]I hate eclipse with a passionOnce upon a time Eclipse was fast but minimal and Netbeans big and clunky - Netbeans got faster and Eclipse slooooooowed down massively in my experience.
Netbeans ftw nowadays, will see how much development progress it gets with Oracle as responsible party.
This, more or less. That and I am incredibly lazy and would rather not search for the packages I need to obtain similar functionality.
I can understand that but Eclipse Downloads But I understand your aversion since I agree this is one thing Microsoft got right. Visual Studio is the best IDE I have worked with.
Wow giving up so easily? Start a thread and see where it goes. Just because it hasn't been done already doesn't mean it can't succeed. Heck I got more responses than I thought I would asking what people thought what was hardest to cook (Steak, pork, fish, chicken). If you never ask a question you will never get an answer.

I've been working in Microsoft Visual C++ Express for all of my (bad)programming. However, I don't want to tie myself down to using 1 programming environment. I've heard of a bunch of different free IDEs, but what do you guys recommend.I'd probably still consider myself new to this, so anything that doesn't have a monster interface would work well.
It depends on what your focus is. If you plan on sticking with Windows Development then stick with a Microsoft IDE; otherwise look into the open source IDEs mentioned above.
As a C++/C# Windows Developer myself who has also touched many open source projects I can honestly say without a doubt no IDE even comes close to the functionality of Visual Studio 2010. But, if you are working on Linux, etc development then it's best to focus on learning the ins and outs of one of the open source IDEs mentioned above.
Overall. .NET 4.0 Functionality is amazing-
PS: I hate eclipse with a passion
I totally agree with you on the Visual Studio IDE for C++/C# but why the hate for eclipse? Lack of drag and drop interface design? If so there are some good free addins for it to allow that. Just kinda curious why the Eclipse hate.
