did anyone else feel that way but changed their minds in the last 3 episodes? cuz i'm feeling like putting this away forever, and i don't want to miss out on something great i don't know about.
no, not me
its all good so far, nothing so crucial to complain about.
you will seriously miss out if you stop now, just think about it :)

I think I heard they were making a 3 part movie or something that encompasses the story (anyone else know more about what I'm talking about?) so atleast watch that.
already been brought up and will definitely watch it :)

Btw, what do you guys think about the 3 planned and upcoming Compilation Movies that would make up the entire 13 episode series?
CANAAN Gets 3 Movies Starting this October

So after episode 8, does anyone else get the feeling that Canaan and Maria might possible get together? It probably wont happen (OMG LESBIANS DURR), but still it might. I know their relationship is obviously platonic right now but com'on Maria and Canaan conversation "I want you to stay with me forever." followed by blushing? Seriously, when does that NOT end up in romance?

if they put lesbian fanservice in there, then i will watch this forever unless yaoi finds its way in there as well.

First off, to the series and viewers’ defense, no one has mentioned anything about this series being the greatest neither of the season nor of all time. I in fact don’t think that I’ve ever uttered a word describing the series to be so damn amazing. It’s just another series; one of the better, if not one of the best series I’ve seen this year for that matter, which I truly am enjoying. All in all, that’s pretty much everything “definite” I can tell you right now. I’m just about to watch episode 8 anyway and my opinions may certainly change overtime as the series goes on.
For now, let’s put the topic about whether this series is actually good or not aside as I seriously think it’s quite too early to decide that. Though your humbleness may not be much appreciated by some of us (me included), I’m not one to just sit in silence after my integrity as a viewer has somewhat been questioned. Plus you went through all the trouble of writing that post so I might as well entertain your inquiries (and myself) for a little while.
Your questioning could simply be summarized as a typical lack of better judgment on your part. Maybe it has something to do with the words you used but it seems a bit immature (at least) to me. Well, one should always keep in mind that while everyone of us here watches anime, not in the slightest does it mean that we could share the exact same views upon any similar title that we all have seen.
For example, going by your avatar, I could assume that you really love K-ON! and thinks of it quite highly at that. Personally, after having finished it myself, I would have to say that while the quality of animation and production was good overall, it was simply mediocre, above average at best as far as “slice-of-life” genre is concerned. The characters never really left me with much of a lasting impression. That said, that's merely how it was for me. Nothing that you can say to me now could ever change my opinion of it and thus I believe it's also applicable in this case.
To sum it all up, "preferential standards" is probably the best answer I could ever give you but if you’re looking for something a little bit more specific; ACTION is what I’ve primarily seen in this series that has been keeping me tuned-in since the beginning. I don’t know about the rest of the guys and I wonder if they’ll even bother to give you an answer. But if there's one thing that I’m sure of, they must have had their own reasons for watching this series up until now; for better or for worse.
Heck, isn’t that basically why we choose to follow a series in the first place? We’re intrigued to find out more, we want to know and figure out everything, and thus we keep on watching.
At least there are some things which we can both agree upon.
For one, I wouldn’t go as far as to declaring Alphard as the true villain in the story yet. I’m really amused by the fact that she is in a very comfortable spot despite being the one closest to assuming that role. And regardless of the most recent developments, something just tells me differently about her.
I dig her character mainly because I know nothing much about her to begin with. She’s a walking mystery and the series has really done well so far to compliment on that. You might have perceived her to be boring as she is now but that’s the gist of the plot right there as it simply focuses more on Canaan’s perspective as it was intended. While I'm sounding quite a bit biased here (she's mai waifu after all), I'm simply going over the facts. In all actuality, I'm frustrated about that since it's Alphard whom I really want to see in every second of each passing minute of every single episode, if ever possible!
That's why this is a 13-episode series; not 5, not 7, and neither is it 10.
You can't seriously believe that after only having seen 5 episodes can you? Well, that certainly isn't the case. I can at least promise you that.
The way I see it, you're taking everything you see too literally as is. Why does Alphard and Canaan's encounter in episode 4 even have to impact any other character for that matter? Plus if either one of them was killed right then and there, how would you suppose the story could further progress? -If there was any character who felt the impact of that encounter, there certainly was one; Liang Qi.- It still doesn't make sense to me though as to why you would consider something absurd as one of the two main characters being killed in just the fourth episode only to suggest how the characters stand apart from one another. (though for the record, I really would have wanted Canaan dead)
Be patient, every secret is bound to be revealed sooner or later. To be honest, I really hate going into such a discussion of what's already to be expected from a series like this. I've seen way too many to know certain structural developments and such obviously foreseeable shit etc etc. Trifling concerns such as yours normally don't really bother me that much but I'm simply this kind of guy; temperamental, easily annoyed, and the sort. I just can't help being myself.
If you haven’t seen the 6th and 7th episode yet, I highly suggest that you watch them soon. Like hell would I ever sum it up for you; find out in full detail by watching them yourself. Just to be clear, whatever you decide to do is your choice and is none of my concern. If you’d like to stop at 7 (you must at least watch it up to that episode imho), then so be it. It's your loss, not mine.

Here's to hoping that you will make the right choice.
PS: Pardon me for the long ass post. If ever you decide to continue on with this series and post in here along the way, you'd better get used to it by now. (I sure hope you would)

this isn't actually a spoiler, i just don't want to crowd the page up.
ah well, thanks for taking the time to respond, anyways.
it's true i was a bit hasty to finalize my opinions but regardless, i think that if i go 5 episodes into a series (which you say is 13 episodes, i didn't know that...) and i still can't find any real interest in watching the next episode, then i at least have a right to say so. this is, after all, a thread designed to discuss the show in its entirety, right? (of course, if i'm wrong, my apologies) mind you, 5 episodes is more than 1 GB of downloading and more than 2 hours of watching.
and that's just what i felt, 1+ GB and 2+ hours later: that the action was superficial, the characters were bland and not very memorable, and i hadn't really enjoyed myself. it's just sort of a cliche virus thing with a cliche war-torn-past revenge-complex protagonist against a cliche mysterious emotionless more-powerful-than-the-protagonist antagonist. with the cliche inoue-orihime always-happy girl.
anyways, sorry if anything i said set anyone off (obviously there were some things XD).
i'll be back if the next episodes are really good.
oh also, i don't really know that much about k-on (i don't think i watched past ep 6), but i do know that mio is win.

I feel like being out of place in my own thread now...
@darkbluehole: I wouldn't argue if that's how you really see it which only proves my point anyways. Just like I said earlier (in a much condensed manner), no matter what I say nor any other user for that matter, to watch it any further or not all comes down to you in the end.
Also, disk space is of no issue here. You could always delete the file after watching it and there are other sub-groups who encode in Xvid for a much lesser file size to choose from.
In the first place, it wasn't like you're even trying to be persuaded or anything. As a matter of fact, it was more of like you were already convinced of dropping it. I just had to give it a shot however futile it may seem.
@Angie: I get what you're saying about adrenaline but it's still a far cry out to any sort of definite power/strength which can ultimately protect/save anyone in any given situation.
Well, you might have saved your pet back then but just as I've been saying, it's not an absolute factor of strength and likewise, neither is it a sure-fire weakness. All I'm saying is that a Canaan with a lesser baggage to carry is more of a threat to Alphard and stands with a much bigger chance of coming out of it alive (than having Maria by her side).
Although I must say that you've got one lucky pup for having you as its owner.
Btw, Maria is unarguably the best female recipient of any assault possible in the series. With that in mind, why not let her have it? She seems to enjoy it anyway.
Rather than “yummy”, I believe “YUCKY” is much more appropriate to describe it.
I guess you’re quite naive to even be surprised with such a fact. Whether you believe it or not, such things really do happen in reality. Give and take; I use you, you use me; that’s pretty much how everything works in this world. I would very much like to add on this topic but I guess I'd rather stop here before any blinded patriot gets offended.
Sorry but you seem to have gotten the wrong impression. Capitalism is not something that could possibly be brought down by a single terrorist organization alone. Alphard simply pointed out where the flow in the current was and from my perspective, she’s merely seeking to take advantage of it. As suggested in the conversation, they benefit from the very existence of capitalism in relation to such anti-terrorist movements.
That scene with the kid was brutally traumatizing for Hakko to even remember no doubt. Trying to calm him down, instead having his goddamn head explode right in your face, and to learn later on that it was your fault is much too horrific enough to keep someone from ever uttering another word. I thoroughly enjoyed it though. :D
The "concert" scene just showed you how much she abhors Canaan that she couldn't care less on whoever gets involved, except for a mere crying child which made her stop. In any case, the extent of her ability was of no surprise at all.
I expected that much from Santana. The revelation definitely adds up to his connection with them Snake (DAEDALA).
From Hakko’s stares, it was pretty obvious that she’d do something such as strangling Canaan in her sleep. And I was so expecting her to succeed… Dammit! what a waste of a good opportunity.
As for Hakko’s contempt towards her, I have no idea. Either way, I’m not totally against nor am I ruling out your theory but having to deal with yet another memory loss angle is getting a little bit too tiring for me. (I still have Eden of the East to deal with)
Anyway, Alphard also expressed a very deep irritation on something that may be related to the reason as to why Hakko blames Canaan. I can tell that mai waifu needs some comforting. Sharing the same personalities can really be quite helpful at times. (please excuse me and my fantasy) :D
It was nothing more but a mere visualization. A particular color only represents a person’s thoughts and emotions at a certain point in time. It’s not like it works as a constant for someone in particular. Hell, is Maria a glutton? Perhaps. LOL
Nothing to be sorry about, I feel you somehow. And yes, I definitely CAN’T wait for the next one! Liang Qi in a heli!? Canaan and crew better watch out or they might be blown into smithereens! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
That gave me an earful to complain about in this episode! Seriously, those two could very much nullify Hakko’s ability with their singing. I sure hope they’re not planning to join any sort of singing competition in the near future cause they totally SUCK!
PS: Late reply... I know. (LIFE takes its toll)

I also really felt for Hakko in this episode, especially during the flashback. I can't imagine what other horrors she must have had to endure. And we also discovered the full extend of her powers during the Nene scene. That was intense, and thus, that's why she's a mute. That scene with the kid was brutally traumatizing for Hakko to even remember no doubt. At least she has her man...kind of. She won't forgive him for some reason, and he revealed that he was the one who destroyed the village. Curious, Curious... I expected that much from Santana. The revelation definitely adds up to his connection with them Snake (DAEDALA).

And that choking scene? Totally didn't see it coming. And then she revealed that everything was Canaan's fault? Wow. I'm hypothesizing that Canaan lost her memory in some kind of incident involving the UA virus. Not even remotely sure of what that could be, though. Maybe under Siam's control, before Alphard killed him? Who knows. From Hakko’s stares, it was pretty obvious that she’d do something such as strangling Canaan in her sleep. And I was so expecting her to succeed… Dammit! what a waste of a good opportunity.

I guess this is a good opportunity for me to clarify some things.
No, I don't "really hate" her. I simply DETEST her. (and I wasn't even trying to act funny when I said that)
Now that I think about it, I wonder as to why myself... Well, she's definitely not attractive, that much I'm pretty certain.
As for Maria, you didn't ask but if you'd insist...
Either way, you caught me off guard right there I mean, episode 9 was quite intense; cold sweat ran down from all over my body plus I smoked half a pack of cigarettes in the entire duration of the episode and as a result, I feel lightheaded. My thoughts, hazy as the morning sun.

Okay hermit, you made me to clarify myself.
No, I don't "really hate" her. I simply DETEST her. (and I wasn't even trying to act funny when I said that)
I really can't comprehend this opinion, no mater how hard I try.
Now that I think about it, I wonder as to why myself... Well, she's definitely not attractive, that much I'm pretty certain.
I must oppose. She IS attractive (imo far more than Liang Qi or Alphard). I can understand your attraction to Alphard, her personality is really interesting and I don't have any problems with her actions. But Liang Qi is just violent-crazy-incest-freak (wait, that's wrong?!). Oh well, whatever. I really hate her actions, be it her shooting Cummings every single time she shows up (it's getting really old), her appearance in the last episode (9) or her neverending bitching about NEE-SAN and LOVE. Please go kill yourself you damn emo freak.
On the other hand there's nothing I can find bad about Canaan. Maybe it's caused by the fact that her personality somehow resembles that of my actual gf, dunno. She's just got that character I'm being instinctively attracted to. Not to mention that I can see some resemblance between her and me...
I can somehow understand your hate/rage/detest (mark the right choice) towards her (expecially in the first tro or three episodes, where her significance was somewhere between zero and zero.). If she weren't in the show she wouldn't have been missed... For freak we' ve got Liang Qi, Canaan represents "hard to approach" character, Alphard is the outrageously strong, etc etc.
But I came to somehow accept her for the fact she cares about Canaan (well but first she pissed me off after that boy let Canaan kill himself and Maria went all emo... bitch.) and I can feel that her mediation between Yunyun and Canaan will gain it's significance before the show ends.
Not to mention that she's been made the reason Canaan even gives the fuck about Ua Virus, nah (at least it seems so).

so you really hate Canaan don't you?No, I don't "really hate" her. I simply DETEST her. (and I wasn't even trying to act funny when I said that)
I really can't comprehend this opinion, no mater how hard I try.

if you dont mind can you tell me why?Now that I think about it, I wonder as to why myself...
